Tell me about Impressions de France

Hello,

I have been to WDW many times and have never seen this film. I was raised with parents who pretty much instilled the belief in my head that films were boring and we should spend all of our time in the shops, eating and on rides.

I myself , as an adult, now love documentaries and the history channel and such. I also love gothic architecture and gargoyles and have read several books on Notre Dame.

Will I enjoy this film? I'm going with my boy friend who could care less about educational artsy film, but I'm sure would be more than willing to suffer for 18 minutes so I could see the film when we go.

I've heard many people on DISboards say this is a do not miss attraction.

Is that true? Do you see it when you go?

I may be the odd one out here, but it's one of the films I really like at Epcot. I wouldn't consider it "artsy", more like a travelogue of France. It shows Paris scenes, the Tour de France cycle race, ballooning over castles, French coastline, etc; all set to the music of Claude Debussy--by the way, it's a sit-down theatre.

It is by far one of my favorite movies in Epcot and I never tire of seeing it.. Please treat yourself when you go again.. the music is incredible and scenery truly special.. Made me want to hop the next plane and fly to France..

We usually see it when we go....however, we are usually there slow seasons, don't know if I would fight the crowds to see it. We like it. It is a very large (180 degree ?) screen that shows you different parts of the country....castles, mountains, countryside, etc. It is set to music and lasts about 15-20 minutes I think. If you have ever been to the Canada attraction it is very similar. I don't think you will be disappointed. Its nice to do when you are ready to sit down and relax a little while especially. Enjoy!

We see this film at least once on every trip. It is a very beautiful film and the music is awesome.

We see this show every year as well. It is a beautiful travelogue of France and shows the diverse regions of the country. There is hardly ever much of a wait and unlike Canada and China it has very comfortable seats!

After many many trips to DisneyWorld and putting it off all those many trips, I finally made my way into the movie last winter.

I was really disappointed in myself for not having gone in earlier. It's now on my "must do" list for Epcot...the movie is wonderful and the music is fantastic!!!

I'd recommend the movie especially after what you shared about things YOU enjoy, like documentaries and architecture.

I love this attraction and in addition to all the wonderful things mentioned previously, the music is very soothing. Some sceens, for me, are absolutley breathtaking.
Try it, I think you will really enjoy it.

Does anyone know if you can still buy the CD of the music used in the film?

At one time I remember walking out of the theatre and looked at the CD (or maybe it was a cassette), but didn't buy it.

Now of course, I'm regretting it.

Any suggestions?

beautiful film, wonderful music, comfy seats....how can you go wrong Except i have a friend who gets motion sickness in it( but then again she basically gets it in any film at Disney.) Husband is prone to m.s. but he loves this one,,,China's is another story.

IdF is the best of the World Showcase films. Impressive visuals. Good music. Grab something from the Boulangerie Patisserie before the movie to get in the proper state of mind. You'll enjoy it.

I can't help you with a Disney CD specific to the movie, but I recognized some of the music in it by the composer Camille Saint-Saens. I believe that at the beginning is "Aquarium" from Carnival of the Animals, and the end is most definitely a segment of the last movement of his Organ Symphony (Symphony #3).

If I'm not mistaken, the music from the film is all by French composers.

Also, you can go to Digital Disney and watch a really tiny little video of the whole thing.

I, too,wanted the music from the movie. Last time we saw it, I asked a CM after the show in the gift shop and she was clueless, but I found the song compilation from the folks at this board !...thank you!...on the a c.d. The c.d. is called Walt Disney World Resort Official Album and can be purchased at Amazon. It has the whole sequence of songs from the France movie as well as several rides ( Splash Mountain, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion) Hope this helps!

If I am not mistaken, the music is from the composers Debussy, Saint-Saens, and Erik Satie. Beautiful music, very relaxing.
