Any info on this resturant would be useful. I think I will replace it with our Blue Bayou plans.

It will be me, a 17yo DD and 6 yo DS.

The food is very tasty and service is excellent! I had a scallops and risotto dish two trips ago. But- it wasn't the atmosphere I was expecting. I thought it would be more fine dining and it was a little childish. Great food though!

Thanks for the info....childish works for us, it will be easier for DS to sit still and we won't have to get all dressed up.

Where and what is Hook's Point? I have not heard of this before. Thanks so much. Is it better than Blue Bayou???

It is a resturant in the disneyland hotel. I doubt its better then the Blue Bayou, atomsphere wise anyways. We were going to eat at the BB but with POTC being closed while we will be visiting I am looking for a replacement resturant.

Even without the boats going by, the atmosphere should be pretty. The water and lights will still be there... When will POC be closed?

I think it is closing on Oct 13th, I know for sure it will be closed from the 17th to the 25th when we will be there.

Its one of our favorite places (Hook's Pointe that is). I think it has a very nice atmosphere. We have eaten there four or five times and the service and food have always been excellent. I think the scallops are my favorite!

And in the past when POTC was closed, Blue Bayou always was too. I'd be very surprised if they kept it open during this refurb of POTC. But I guess you never know.

I believe BB will be closed too. Usually when they do refurbs, they close both POTC and BB at the same time.

We took our then 4 year old one-and-a-half years ago and it was great. It was an impromptu decision and we were glad we decided to eat there. We are going back again next year and will probably make another ps there..............although I would like to try Steakhouse 55 too. Blue Bayou is also a must for us. In my opinion the food is much better at Hooke's than at BB. For us, BB is more about the atmosphere, the food's decent but nothing to write home about.
At Hooke's the waitstaff were great and the food was better. Most of the food is mesquite-grilled so if you like that it's a great place to go. My Dd had the mac and cheese and loved it. We started with a great tuna tartare, it was delish. My DH had the porkchop and that was excellent, I can't remember what I had but know it was great! :) I looked at the current menu on all ears and couldn't find what I had, I believe it was some sort of rib-eye special. Have a great trip----------Megan

I agree with the PP. Went to Hooke's last Sept. None of us were impressed with either the food or the atmosphere. I didn't see much of the pirate theme either, unless I looked out the window at the pool below. It seemed more of a mature atmosphere. I vote for BB. We are going while POTC is down. I am hoping that BB is still open, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. :scared:

Why don't you make PS for Blue Bayou one meal, and try something else another meal? Who knows if BB is really going down during the PotC refurb. if it's not, and the Bayou scene is intact, you really can't beat it for atmosphere, although the food isn't great. It's really fun and neat. But then, you could also make PS's for another day, and you can cancel either at the last minute if you just don't feel like it or your plans change.

If you were considering Hook's Point, you might want to think about Storyteller's in the GCH instead. I've heard only good stuff about it. Delicious food, excellent service, and you can wander around in the GCH lobby before or after and enjoy the gorgeous ambiance, and the big fireplace. You might even want to do a character breakfast there; I've heard it's really nice and kind of low key (the characters are good about not being intrusive if your 17 y.o. is less than thrilled with hugs from Koda and Kenai) and yet would be fun for the 6 y.o. We didn't do it, but that's because my kids are a bit freaked out by characters (well, the DD6 is, the older two think it's for babies. Silly girls!).
