I just booked the week before Christmas at HHI. Never been, just wanted a relaxing getaway with DH before the craziness of the holidays. Are there any special holiday events in HHI or Savannah? We love to walk and explore, any suggestions from you HHI experts?

Have been many times during xmas week to New years. There are holiday activities and you can see them on HHI tourism website. One year we went to a live nativity on xmas eve in SeaPines at a horse ranch. It was very well done, by a church on the island..that was quite a few years ago. Lots of usual lights, etc, but there are numerous island sponsored stuff. Savannah also is wonderful over the holidays(NYE there is legendary!), lot's of the smaller inns, and hotels are decorated beautifully. Check out the calendar on the websites...HHI resort also has activities daily many with holiday themes for adults and kids alike. We will be there 12/29-12/31 after our xmas week at wdw(VWL).

Thanks. I am looking forward to seeing Savannah. I lived there when I was very young. We are really looking forward to finally being in Hilton Head. I am sure we will love it.

Was that maybe at the Lawton Stables in Sea Pines? We go at Thanksgiving, just before all the big Christmas events. I know there's some activities down at South Beach (by Salty Dog resturant) in Sea Pines, also. And I think that Santa is visiting over at the Shelter Cove Mall for the season.

Yes it was..the sponsoring church is what I can't recall. It was a huge crowd on xmas eve, we sat on hay barrels and they had alot of live animals for the kids to pet. It was a professional sound stage and very well done. The pastor did attempt to "preach" a bit to the audience at the end, but most people just wanted to head to their cars and get home. We really enjoyed it, but I do not know whether it is still done.

for all kinds of weather.

We arrived last year on the day after Christmas to snow falling!!
it was lovely and didn't stick to the ground just made things wet:lmao:

it was cold most of the week but didn't stop us from exploring around. DH and cousins played golf two or three times. a couple of mornings they had to wait for the course to thaw out before teeing off :rotfl::rotfl:

it was fun!
