Tell me about February!!!! Crowds, hours...

Our trip was planned for November but as soon as the packages for 2007 come out we are going to call and change our trip to February 2007. We were thinking about the first week because I have heard that president's week is crazy busy!!
How are the crowds in February? Will we miss out on anything due to parks closing early that time of year? HELP!!!

We have gone several times first week in Feb. and this past winter we went second week in January. We enjoyed both months a bunch. We love escaping the colder weather and heading south and have lucked out with beautiful weeks of weather. All of our winter trips we were able to swim and wore summery clothes - with a few days of slightly warmer clothes. Yes, the parks close earlier but you really are able to move through the park at a much faster pace than during a busier time. Although I still make ADR's I can generally get my pick of times and can easily change plans while we are in the parks if need be.
Plus Jan. and until about the middle of Feb. resorts are all on value season rates!!!

Sounds good to me! I am not a hot weather fan! I'm makes me pretty miserable actually!! What about the fireworks? The parks will still have them even though they are closing early, right? I love the fireworks!

I looked at the park hours somewhere, and they did indeed have fireworks every night. Spectro doesn't seem to run as often, maybe once or twice a week, but Wishes, Fantasmic! and Illuminations were on the schedule for all of February!

February is our favorite time of the year to go (in the first couple of weeks). With the exception of the one year that the Superbowl was being played in Jacksonville, the crowds are minimal, the weather is good (though it is somewhat changeable -- we've had it be in the 30's when we woke up, but on the same trip had it go up to 84!). For most of February you are still in value season prices. It's never seemed like we were missing out on anything with the earlier closings and such.

What about the fireworks? The parks will still have them even though they are closing early, right? I love the fireworks!

Oh, yes fireworks daily! Wishes, Illuminations, Fantasmic all done nightly. As someone else noted Spectro is not nightly, however it is usually done two or three times a week so if you are vacationing for a week you have a good shot at seeing it. The daytime parades at MK, AK & MGM also are held daily. We always get a great curb spot to see the parade just minutes before the parade. At MK right in front of the train station there have always been spots waiting for us right on the curb. At other times of the year you would not just be able to walk up and secure a spot on the curb just as the parade was beginning.

We went in Feb. two years ago and it was great. Not to crowded, weather was nice, not to hot!!

February was great! The year we were there MGM was so lightly populated that DS rode RnRC 11 times in a row... no line at all! We got tired watching him! Finally after 11 times there was a line just out the door (still not at all a significant line) but enough for us to get him to move on! It was a wonderful time to visit.

One heads up however... our last day just happened to be the Monday following the Daytona 500 and I think EVERYONE who was at that race went straight to Disney. By noon MK was more crowded than at Christmas! So be sure you're missing that day and President's day and you should have a wonderful trip.
