DH and I are trying to find something we can do together that interests both of us, and he's finally agreed to try Everquest (Something we've both been curious about since its first beta).

Tell me about the game?

I know in one of the versions, you can play a kitty character -- which version (besides EQII) is that?

Is it possible to play two-player with one system? Whether on the PS2 or computer? We have 2 computers, and one PS2, and one PS1 -- is there a way to hook that up so we could both play together?

How much is the subscription now? Still expensive?

Thanks!!

We have a thread going on about Everquest2.

You can play a cat if you have the Shadows of Luclin expansion. You can't play with each other unless you have 2 separate accounts.
I haven't played in months because my video card didn't like the game and it got aggravating the amount of time needed to play the game in order to get ahead. This is not a game for the casual gamer. People literally spend hours and hours a day playing. but it used to be $13.95 a month per account.
It's a very addictive game

Thanks Cranky -- I was reading the other thread as well, but didn't see the answer to my question. :)

If this isn't "the" game to play for someone who could only play, say, 2-4 hours on a weekend, any recommendations for a 2-player alternative?

Everquest is not a game for a light player....my brother plays and has been for 3 years now. He plays about 24 hours a week...

Can't think of many good 2 player games...

How about playing NEVERWINTER NIGHTS? It is a little different than Everquest but still an RPG. And it is free. And you can both play as lomg as you have 2 computers connected to the internet.

Or, check out the upcoming "Guild Wars" which will also be free, but from what I gather will be a lot more like EQ. It is expected to be online in February and will also be free ( after buying the original game, of course ).

And, if you want to try something REALLY COOL, try City of Heroes, an online RPG where you play a super hero of you design! WAY COOL. But this has a fee for EACH PLAYER, but is REALLY a lot of fun!!!

Do a google search and enjoy!

I play EQ1 and have for ...3 years now

I am a casual player meaning I play 1- 3 hours a night depending.

There are casual guilds ( a guild is a group of people playing under a name and working together)

My husband and I have been playing as a hobby together since we started. We have a lot of fun and enjoy the time and adventures we have with friends...

its 12.95 per month per account. You will need 2 accounts ..1 for each computer. there is a "gold version" that has several of the expansion packs included. The kitty char is called a Vah shir and they are cool, though I prefer dark elves.

I will say it is addicting, You form friendships with people...like on a message board..but much more involved. you group with people and need to depend on them in groups in dangerous " places. You learn how to become good at your class...and learn who is good or bad at thiers.

there are tradeskill such as baking, brewing and jewelcraft which is a lot of fun.

There are now quest people located in many zones that are designed to be finsihed within an hour or 2

there is also instanced zones - with a group of 6 or less..you can enter a custom encounter (an LDON) and earn points to "buy" very very good gear...do a encounter 2-3 times a week and your well on your way to earning excellent gear without the camping and long hours other posters have mentioned.
( that does require the Lost Dungeons of Norrath expansion)

there is plenty of room for a casual player, but there are many people who commit a lot of time to EQ, you must balence real life time and game time. some people are horrid about it, I myself do not find it difficult. I play after my little ones are in bed...raid and group and then camp out when i get tired. it is great for me, as I dont go anywhere after the kids are in bed... I hate watching TV. I can only read so many message boards. And eq really challenges me, I get to play with my husband and SOOO many other people and do so many diffrent things...all for less than a night at the movies.

You will not get into the "uber" guild playing casually...but that is no reson not to enjoy the game. I have a lvl 66 enchater..its taken me the full 3 yrs of play to get her there and I have had friends from the beging who I STILL play with today.

I mantain our guild website and am an officer, we do weekly raids, but we have recently backed off ffrom raiding 3-4 times a week...still most of the guild is very casual.

Its a great hobby, always somthing to talk about, plan, a new placce to go, stratagies to try. Over all ..a bargin for the money involved. My husband and I never get bored in conversation..besides RL ..theres always EQ to plan, he just finished his epic quest for his necromancer and that was a blast.

anywho. best of luck on your descion

Did you look into Star Wars Galaxy?

My boyfriend and I are playing Star Wars Galaxies. It's kind of going downhill right now, I wouldn't recommend for n00bs.
