We have been to DL twice, June of 2015 and June of 2017, we've been alternating every other year with trips to WDW. Since 2019 is a DL year, we were planning to go during my kids' spring break in early to mid-March, but prices are pretty steep for airfare and the HoJo, which we've enjoyed staying at our past two trips, is sold out one of the nights we'd need in March. So last night DH was thinking out loud and said, "I wonder if we could go over Christmas break?" Well, I'm not willing to go right around Christmas Day, I don't want those crowds, but our kids' school break is Dec 22 through Jan 7, so I was thinking about January 1-6. Flight prices are decent, hotel availability is good from what I've checked today, and even the rental car prices are cheaper than when we could go in March.
So what would DL be like those first few days of January? We'd pick 3 out of the 4 days, January 2-5, to visit the parks. Touring Plans crowd calendar show it would be busier than our possible dates in March. We're used to busy, as we go to WDW in June where we deal with crowds plus the heat and humidity! But is it still going to be crazy busy like it will be the days right around Christmas? What can we expect in the way of Christmas decorations and festivities to still be around those days? Will IASW holiday still be running?
Thanks in advance for any information anyone can give!
