Tell me about DL in the rain :(

Weather.com is now showing a forecast for rain in Anaheim next week from Monday to Thursday...it's still a long way (weather prediction wise) off, but I'm going to get us some ponchos today just in case

Looking forward to the (hopefully) short lines!!!

We were there in October when it rained on and off for a couple days. It only affected a few things.

1. We didn't want to ride Grizzly River Rapids in the rain. DH isn't a big raft-ride fan to start with.
2. Outdoor seating being wet means the indoor seating got very crowded. The CMs were wiping down outside tables as soon as it stopped raining, but everything was pretty damp. Carnation Cafe was seating people only under umbrellas, which limited the available space. A long wait for a table even with a PS. They said if it rained a lot they might not even be open!
3. We rode Autopia and Matterhorn in the rain. Matterhorn was fun, Autopia not so much. Tomorrowland and Hollywood Pictures Backlot are good areas in the rain because almost everything is inside.
4. After two days of on-and-off drizzle, Tom Sawyer Island was closed. Probably too muddy. I think that was the only real disappointment.

Any idea what the pinchos run cost-wise at DL? I mean am I going to be spending $25 a person?

Weather.com calls for more rain than the weather page on msn.com.

I want to say they're like $8 or $9? Maybe? I bought some disposable ones at Target today for $1.17. I don't know how sturdy they are.

add me to the secretly hoping for rain group:rolleyes1 well, being from parched arizona, that isn't so far of a stretch.

now i have to find some ponchos and rain boots for the boys.

Rain boots are probably overkill IMO. It rarely rains that much in CA at once.

If I were purchasing another pair of shoes, I think I'd get another pair of tennis shoes in case the first pair gets wet. That would probably get more long-term use in AZ than a pair of rain boots. My girls both broke in new tennis shoes with four days of school left before our DLR a couple months back.

Rainboots might be overkill, but at least have a second pair of shoes. I once stepped into a puddle of water above my ankles when stepping into Dumbo. I don't worry so much about the rain falling, but more about what I'll encounter on certain outdoor rides.

I'm in AZ too; just picked up some ponchos at the Super Wal-Mart for 88 cents each  . The heavy duty ones were around $6 each; both types were in the camping department.

We are going next week too this web-site is also showing less rain than weather.com

http://www.accuweather.com/us/ca/an...tner=accuweather&traveler=1&zipChg=1&metric=0

We will be there the 8th - 10th. I am fine as long as it isn't a torential downpour! Plus we are staying at the GCH so we have a quick walk if we need to change.

I am a little bummed though because we are bringing my MIL and I want her to have a great time. I am okay with the rain but I will have to check on her.

Also she has had both knees replaced this year 1 in April the other in June will she still be able to rent an ECV if needed in the rain?

I have been haunting the weather forcast for the last few days, and it keeps going back and forth between rain and just cloudy. I hope for just enough to keep everyone away but not enough to be a huge pain. My biggest concern about rain is snow on the grapevine.:cloud9:

The one thing I don't like about a rainy day.. the entrance plaza and Main Street brick surfaces are very slippery when wet! Combine slippery with worn out treads on my crocs and I nearly face planted several times last March. :scared:

Skidded my way into a store where I bought the wooly Mammoth Disney crocs, had toasty dry toes for the rest of the drizzly wet week. :cloud9:

Other changes... if it's pouring or continuing rain, they close up most of the ODV carts. They re open as the rain ends... the CMs with ice cream carts look bored on a rainy winter day. :upsidedow
The waterfall path at DLH closes for safety reasons.

And the ducks inside the park happily march around the walkways, last year a mama duck paraded her fuzzy little ones all around the partners statue. They were eating spilled popcorn under a cart, the disney policeman was carefully following to make sure no one bothered them. Only at Disneyland! :cutie:

Still a bit early in the season for snow on the Grapevine that accumulates.;)

Crocs and any kind of water do not mix

Ok, that could be do-able. I'll look around before we go but I'm very limited on shopping here. I asked about the $25 because I once got stuck & bought a beach towel at Legoland for $25-no logo or anything! It was dumb & I'd never pay that anywhere else, but it solved the problem at the time, lol.

I am trying to convince myself that rain will be okay- but having a hard time doing that! As of today, the weather forecast shows rain EVERY day I will be there - Wednesday the 9th thru Saturday the 12th. With Wed, Fri, and Sat showing 100% chance. Light rain wouldn't be so bad- but it calls for 25 mile per hour winds, also. Will be kind of bummed if we can't see a parade or fireworks or Fantasmic! Am also worried about travel over the Grapevine. Guess, I wil just keep my fingers crossed!

Yea for light rain! I agree, we still want to see fireworks. Hopefully by later in the evening, after the sun sets, the winds and rain will die down for a fireworks show with light crowds.

It would be very disappointing if fireworks or Fantasmic weren't put on due to rain/wind (I'm right there with you worrying about this...our trip is next week too), but look at it this way: if it is indeed raining and windy, the Park should be fairly empty! Which means you'll be able to go on whatever rides you want to (that don't close due to rain) multiple times! Bring a poncho and/or an umbrella & have a fabulous time!

Please don't worry.

We were in the parks last year about this time and it was really stormy and rainy a couple days. We went to the parks anyway and it was so much fun! We bought ponchos and just went for it. The lines are almost non existent when it rains. The CMs are great....and you feel like you have the place to yourself. We rode Splash Mountain in our ponchos in the rain 3 times in a row and it was a blast!

Because of the rain, the christmas light reflect off of the puddles and it is beautiful!

My advice is bundle up, wear waterproof shoes (my feet were really wet!), buy a poncho, wear a hat with a bill, and enjoy.
