Tell me about Dinosaur at AK

1. No drops.

2. Very.
Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for ENTIRE ride!)

Its certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.

This is perfect! We absolutely love this ride and the pre-show too::yes::

I think you got some good descriptions but I wanted to chime in to say that it is my absolute favorite ride at Disney. Love, love, love dinosaur! The jerkiness doesn't bother me but I hated space mountain's jerkiness.

They say the Space Mountain at Disneyland is much better in almost every respect. That *alone* makes me want to make the trek to DL someday(along with checking out California Adventure and Carsland).

I think the jerks in this ride are intentional so while it's jerky I find it a more comfortable ride than the jerks in space mountain. I love roller coasters but have given up on space specifically because of the jerkiness. This ride seems much smoother to me. My mother who will not go in space mountain will not go I dinosaur either not because of the jerkiness but more due to the lights flashing and loud noises. It gives her a headache.

I love this ride lol

I love this ride! It is so much fun.

This ride might not be good for kids if they get scared easily....not "land before time" cute and cuddly. Remember: THE DINOSAURS ARE TRYING TO EAT YOU!

It's not for kids who are afraid in the dark. The young girls in front of me were hiccup crying and shaking when it was over. Said beforehand they didn't want to go in the dark.

I agree with the jerkiness, but has anyone else noticed the dinosaur in the picture spot is less loud now, they must have had many complaints because it is not nearly as loud as it was in 2010. I am sure it is not as loud, that being said I love this ride one of my favs, ride it many times each trip, this year we rode it 3x in a row, the cm let us stay on and we had the rover to ourselves so great picture op.

I let my very brave 5 year old DD watch the YouTube videos of it before the trip, she loved it. Begged all day to ride it (same child that had just got off EE and wanted to ride again!) she got off Dino in tears. She hated the ride. Almost ruined the trip for her every ride after she asked are there Dino's on this ride? Only ride in all 4 parks she hated!

I had no idea what to expect the first time I ever rode this ride - so I was rather caught off guard by the jerkiness and the loudness and the dinosaurs.

Oh, heck. Who am I kidding? "Caught off guard"???

I was TERRIFIED!!! I came off that ride with newfound grey hair, and I was shaking…I really thought I was going to be a tasty nugget to that dinosaur at the end…. :scared1:

…however…it is now, without question, one of my most favorite rides, period. Now that I know what to expect - and know what's coming - I can handle it.

BRING IT ON, DINOSAUR!!! I AM READY FOR YOU!!! :worship:

DD was terrified first time on it at 6. It didn't help that we broke down right where the Dino really jumps out at you. She got off the ride hysterical and was pretty afraid of any dark ride for the rest of the trip. Last year, at 8, she loved it! Go figure.

I have a priceless photo from the ride when my 2 DS were young. One has his head down and the other has a frighten look on his face, DW, too. And of course, I am laughing. Boys were around 5 or so. Since then we have one on the ride and taken more photos. We try to sit in the original order as the first photo.

It is a great memory maker for us.

You will have to be the judge of smaller kids. Some get scared, others love it. The ride is jerky but not too bad, just side to side and some up and down. Nothing like a roller coaster.

My kids love this ride. I used to like it too. I'm a roller-coaster enthusiast, and love a good horror movie too, so I'm not afraid of the dark or thrill rides.

However, I haven't gotten on it since 2009. My family loves to make fun of me for the picture taken on my last ride through Dinosaur - my eyes shut so tight and the ugliest scrunched up face you can imagine. Meanwhile the rest of my family (including my then 8 year old daughter), are smiling and laughing.

It became obvious to me that I just can't handle the level of noise and lurching back and forth anymore! Sensory overload plus whiplash. I'm not sure I'll ever try it again.

My opinion of Dinosaur:

The first, and last, time I rode it.

Woohoo! That's a classic!

I love that ride, its a MUST at AK for me, hands down. My husband and I always say randomly "LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! WE'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT! WE'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!"

IT IS bumpy so if you have back issues etc. its not for you. Its fun, mysterious and VERY DARK!

Dear God, forgive me, but I cannot stop laughing at that photo! LOL

You do not even have to feel bad. I am a thrill seeker. I love huge rides. I love Disney, but the rides never cut it for me. My friends insisted that I go on this ride since I'd never been, and I was SO SCARED. I was actually shaking and screaming 'NO' the entire time. (And I'm an adult! ...Kind of!)

I was so embarrassed by myself after I got off. Because I knew it was all fake! BUT WHAT A LAUGH WE GOT WHEN WE SAW THIS PHOTO. Only ride photo I have ever purchased. I have it framed.

Seriously, those are the kind of ride photos I love! LOL
