We head down to WDW next Saturday and will be spending the week at VWL. We are really looking forward to this trip because I will be celebrating my 60th birthday plus we've never done F&W before and I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time just grazing at the different food kiosks (really looking forward to the Lobster Roll and the Mussels:)). Anyway, I have developed a foot problem (tendonitis) and it is really causing me a lot of pain. It is a little better today from yesterday, but I'm concerned about it still being painful next week. I seem to do better when I wear my walking shoes but usually when I'm not wearing them I'm wearing Topsiders, which provide no arch support at all. I was talking with DW about Crocs. I've never had any, but I'm just wondering how they are comfort wise? How is the arch support? I just need something to wear around the resort instead of my Topsiders. When I go to the parks I'll wear my walking shoes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I figure worst case, I'll just plant myself at the Rose and Crown and enjoy the Bass Ale all week :lmao:.

I wear Crocs & while they're usually very cushy comfy they don't really provide tons & tons of arch support (at least MINE don't). You might try them out with some of those Dr. Scholls inserts tho.:confused3 I especially like the "Mammoth" ones (furry lined) in winter. Almost time to drag them out... They have a lot of different styles now - a lot don't even look like Crocs - some may have better support than others. I saw some new ones at the Hallmark Store the other day - check out their online store:

Thanks Annie. I looked at the website and saw several that looked very interesting. I am going out shortly to Dicks Sporting Goods to check them out.

The original crocs are great for anyone with foot problems. My doctor recommended them after I broke a bone in my foot and three months before we left for Disney. I had just gotten the cast off and finished up with therapy and the crocs were wonderful. My husband wears them too, he gets the original with the sports design (Bears) and we both have worn them all day in the parks. I have a friend who could only wear Crocs when she had bunion surgery, so I am a big fan!

Just back from Dicks. I bought a pair that have the canvass uppers. Seem very comfortable so far.

I'm in the same age range as Wolfpack and though we may have thrown vanity to the wind at this stage, I don't think either one of is ready to be seen in public in fur-lined Crocs. OTOH, with a name like "Mammoths" maybe we could rock 'em like cavemen;)

I've been wearing Crocs for a few years, and while I think they are fine for around the house, or maybe quick trips to the grocery store, for WDW I sure like something with a little more support than they have. Yet I've seen many people here on the Dis saying they have foot/leg problems and the Crocs are the best thing ever.:confused3

If you try them, be sure you try them around the house/neighborhood before you make it the only footware you take to WDW. In any case, a few pints if Bass at R&C couldn't hurt a thing.:)

I would personally try and avoid something brand new right before a WDW trip. Though you said they would only be for at the resort which should be fine.

Some people love crocs. I hated mine. I found that they hurt my knees and hips. The reason for me was that I am a half size and regular crocs do not come in half sizes. I also have narrow feet. So I would slide all over in them. This would make my toes and leg muscles have to work extra hard to stay in place which would leave me hurting. When I tossed them I switched to a shoe with arch support and it made a huge difference for me.

Both of my sons and DH have the canvas-upper Crocs (they don't even look like Crocs) DH & Son will be wearing them in WDW. Hubby couldn't believe how comfortable they are.

I wear the original Crocs in WDW and find them very comfortable. And I have flat feet and a tendancy toward plantar fasciitis.

I don't wear the original Crocs. But I wear their Cleo and Athens lines, which give a bit more support to the arch and also have the textured padded inside to provide comfort. My youngest son will be wearing his regular Crocs, but I am bringing his sneakers as a back up just in case his feet start to hurt.

Love my crocs - got the first pair when having foot problems and nothing was comfortable for any length of time - Put them on for the 50th anniversary party at DL and haven't looked back since. Have worn them many times for WDW trips and they have been so much better than any walking shoe I had. The only problem was when we got caught in the rain and I ended up with bare feet in wet crocs and that was a slippery problem. I was really excited to get to shop in the crocs store in the orlando airport one year where they had a really good selection.

I had the exact same problem. I didn't have knee problems, but they really bothered my hips. I too was sort of between sizes with a narrow foot.

My brother on the other hand has only worn crocs for several years now. He has terrible knee problems if he doesn't wear crocs.
