I will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort for the first time. Tell me all about it . . . what is it like? Where is the best area to stay? Thanks! :thumbsup2

We've stayed there several times (but not in the past few years). It's a very pretty resort but kind of spread out. I think the farthest area away from the main house (where the food court is ) is Trinidad North. Or at least it seemed that way to us. We also stayed in Jamaica and that was pretty close. I think now if you prefer to stay closer, it costs more.

I've moved this from ThemeParks over to the Resorts Board. You'll get the best answers here.

Thanks,

Knox

You might want to check out the CBR FAQ thread. The link is in my signature. The first post contains lots of information about the resort.

CBR is the best of the mods, in our opinion ~ most deserving of the name "resort" with it's bright, tropical decor, reggae music playing....:cloud9:

it is "spread out", but we find that lends to its appeal ~ it has the feel of the carribean (versus the more "urban" feel of POR). main pool is crowded, but with all the "quiet pools", we've had one to ourselves on a few occassions :thumbsup2

Trinidad SOUTH is the farthest village from Old Port Royale. Trinidad NORTH is one of the closest ... the entire village is comprised of "preferred location" rooms that you must reserve and pay extra for. The other preferred location rooms are in half of Martinique (Bldgs. 24, 25 and 26).

Trinidad North is (building 31) is right next to OPR. We stayed there in '06. We stayed on the 2nd floor, corner room (2 windows!) lake view.... It was the most awesome vacation ever! DH and I fell in love with this resort. The gif shop is soooo nice. We all enjoyed the food court, the hammocks on the beach, and especially our rooms. I can't wait to stay there again one day.

We've stayed in Martinique 25 and Trinidad North 31 - both are preferred locations and great -- but if you do read the CBR FAQ thread Safetymom referred to, you'll see many people love each of the villages, especially Jamaica and Aruba.

We love the hammocks, beaches, food court, Caribbean steel drum music overhead, all the quiet pools, all the bus stops convenient to the rooms, the boat rentals on the resort's own 45-acre lake, the beautiful 1.4-mile Promenade walkway around the lake, and the bright colors around the resort and the very friendly CM's!

CBR is our favorite!:cool1:

Ive stayed at POR twice, POFQ and CBR. After the last stay at POR I decided CBR is my favorite. I love the tropical planting and colors, beaches and hammocks and quietness. I love the room decor though I think a rehab may be needed soon - new furnishings TV & carpets, the rooms are bigger than other mods too. downsides, check in building not in main resort center area, trinidad south 10-15 min walk to food court though you can take the shuttle. Bus service is great - no sharing and location is excellent. :lovestruc

Until we know what is going on with the main pool construction I don't know that I would recommend Trinidad North if requesting a preferred location.

The sidewalk is blocked off to that part of the resort requiring you to walk through part of the parking lot.

I will report back after they close the main pool on the 7th.

We stayed at CBR and were in Trinidad South and it was a 15 min walk to the Port Royale bit. The theming was lovely and it was nice to walk around. The room was nice and big and we had no issues with noise.

Our first morning we were up at 6am (time difference from UK always plays hell with sleeping) and had a walk around, the sunrise was great to watch. Lots of joggers about as well - mad people!

We didn't use the pools as it was too chilly (Feb temps) but each resort has its own pool, a normal rectangle one and there is the themed pool in the centre. Each resort also has a bus stop and each bus loops round the resort calling at each one so you don't have to walk far to get the park buses.

If you want a resort map and pics check out allears.net they have slideshows and maps for each resort.

We went in May and really loved it. We were originally book for ASMovies, but my BIL and his family asked to join us, but did not want to stay there so they upgraded to CBR. We did also just to be in the same resort. I was unsure about it due to the reviews it got on another fan site, but I was pleasantly surprised. We stayed in Barbados, which we were told specifically to stay away from. It is the last stop to pick up and the fist to drop off. We were told we would have to wait for several buses before we would be about to get, but in our 8 day stay I think we only had to wait twice for a second bus. It was nice to be the first off when it was time to go back to the hotel.

The resort is big, but really only took a few minutes to walk to OPR (which we did everyday). There is a no rush feeling there.

In my opinion you will not be disappointed, but then again you will be at Disney so I am sure any resort will be great. It is all what you make of it.

We really liked CBR and are planning on going back this year even with the main pool closed. I have pictures linked below if your interested. Even my kids loved this resort. They begged to go back.

I've stayed there twice. It's beautiful. We didn't pay extra for a view, or for a room closer to the food court. I'm told the bottom floors don't have much of a view anyway because the folliage is pretty high.

First trip we were in Jamaica and it was a short walk across a bridge over to Port Royal (food court). We got Barbados this last trip. Barbados seemed a bit farther to the food court. We were close to the bus stop, laundry room, and quiet pool. Boy was I glad. We walked to that busstop many many times, but only had to walk to the food court once per day (early morning for breakfast). So it actually worked out better. There's an internal bus that goes in a circle. I suppose we could have taken that to breakfast each morning, but we didn't really want to wait for the bus.

Also the laundry room was very nice and clean. I think I washed about 3 loads and then split the loads into about 5 or 6 dryers so they would dry quicker (used high heat setting also). The laundry room and quiet pool seemed pretty deserted most of the time. Next time I won't bother taking soap or dryer sheets. There was a vending machine in there with a couple different detergents and some dryer sheets.

The buses were convenient. At the parks, the moderates' bus stops are much closer than the values' busstops, however, it's still a pretty good walk into the parks and back out. We did get a little stressed when we'd see a bus that was waiting. We didn't want to miss the bus. So we'd fly into action, grabbing the kid out of the stroller, grabbing the tote bag, folding up the stroller. They will not let you bring a stroller on and then fold it up. They make you fold it before getting on.

There are no elevators. So lugging a stroller, our tote bag and a toddler up the stairs to the 2nd floor got a little tiring.

We loved the food court. It had big screens over each station to show what that station had. Loved the mickey waffles. Yum. There's a picture of the waffles, and a photo of CBR in our trip report below. The gift shop was nice too. We used our snack credits to buy a half gallon of milk, a large bottle of water, and some bread in the gift shop.

Also with the beautiful decor and landscaping, it feels like you are really on a tropical vacation at CBR. The only disappointment was the sand. I was hoping our son could play in the sand. But it was really dirty. We did see it groomed once, but it just raked around the stuff, not really removing it. Our previous trip, the sand was really nice so not sure why so filthy on this trip.

We took a chip clip and ended up using it to hold the drapes shut. They didn't quite close all the way.

Next time we are hoping to try the Wilderness Lodge. It will be a shorter trip, so maybe we'll splurge for the resort.

Have fun on your trip!

Just stayed at CBR this past November. I loved it. A little spread out but you can take the internal bus or hop any bus to get dropped off at Old Port Royale. Its a very quiet resort I thought we stayed in Trinidad South had a nice pool and little beach area, if you walk around the water side its not as long to OPR, don't do the parking lot side it seems like forever.
Never waited long for buses, every building has its own bus stop. You will love it.
