Tell me about BLT

jade1 - When the OP posted that quote, she was refering to what I had said, I think. I'm not sure if it was really how she felt.

On the other hand, I do feel that way about BLT. From the pool, when you look up at the building, I don't get any Disney feel from it. It looks like a high-rise that could be in any large city. The same when standing out front. The interiors are also very big-city and modern. Not something we look for at WDW.

I realize that is our opinion (DH and mine) and others feel differently. We love the feel of OKW, BCV and BWV. DH doesn't really like VWL but I do. So it is all about perception and opinion.

I liked lots about BLT. Convenience to MK and monorails are the best. Food at CR is good and varied. And the room layout is much better than BCV and BWV,

To me, it looks EXACTLY like WDW....and I've been going there since 1972. It fits in totally with the Contemporary Resort....which is the ORIGINAL along with the Polynesian.

We will be making our first stay at BLT most likely in May. I'm not a huge fan of modern, but I don't get saying that BLT doesn't look like WDW.

Thank you all for the responses & the pictures. My one major concern is feeling like I'm staying at "just another high rise" but I'm hopeful that Disney has done well enough with theming that that won't be the case. Walking to get meals is not a concern for us. We tend to keep our room well stocked & we've stayed at AKV Kidani twice and didn't mind the walk to Jambo the few times we ate there. It would be great to be so close to other resorts and be able to try out their restaurants though. The walk to MK is another big draw for us. We have a 3 yr old and tend to spend at least one day there and usually go back for 1/2 a day to hit some of our fav attractions again. I think we'll try for BLT this year at the 7 month mark (hoping for an Oct or Nov trip). Thanks again all!

Clearly, it isn't "just another high rise" - no high rise hotels face the Magic Kingdom.


To me the location is really tough to beat, we love the fact that we can take a slow and relaxed walk to the MK or hop on the monorail. The decor isn't for everyone but you could say that about any other DVC property - personally I love it.

It definitely has a" hotel" feel to it but due to location and amenities (monorail, beach movies, California Grill, DVC Wishes view) we never really notice it unless we get lost while roaming the hallways.

I think it's a wonderful update to the contemporary. The crescent shape with a mini A-frame on top is a lot different from any condo building we have in Baltimore.

We stayed at BLT last summer and watched the MK fireworks from the top of the building. It's was really worth it. They pipe in the music and that was very nice...

I guess I should have added that we were in a very low room with no view so the top of the building was great for us...

LOVED our first BLT stay over Christmas!! I was one of those who was unsure how the BLT tower would look next to CR and found them very complimentary.

Really liked the layout of the one bedroom villa with the extra bathroom and pull-out chair. And we enjoyed the decor and furniture. While its not a style I would pick for my own home, it was quite enjoyable to live in for the week. Certainly with all the cute Disney touches in the room of the Space Mountain photo prints in the kitchen, BLT/CR print in living area, castle print in main bath, Mickey duvet and Mickey carpet in the hallways there was no mistake I was at Disney. I thought it was themed very appropriately for CR.

We had a LV and thought it just beautiful. Seeing the sunrise over the old Discovery Island every morning was gorgeous. Certainly no big city feel for me as sitting on the balcony and hearing the boat sounds on Bay Lake and MK's train whistle in the background was so peaceful and fun. My kids loved viewing the EWP every night from our balcony as did I.

We were on the 5th floor which has the sky bridge access to CR and found it a very easy walk to restaurants and stores.

And of course the walk to and from MK were very cool especially over Christmas when thousands were pouring out of the park and standing in line for a boat, monorail or bus and we just had to WALK to home. The kids loved the longer monorail ride to Epcot also.

Nope - that's really how I feel & it's been my feeling since I first saw the artist renderings and my feeling didn't change when we saw it from the bus & monorail this past Fall. To me, it honestly does look like your average, everyday generic high rise building that could be found in any big resort city. DH on the other hand thinks it looks cool. We do like the convenience of being so close to MK, the monorail and the MK resorts which we've yet to explore so it is still on our list of possibilities, if only to try out the convenience factor.

I agree completely. We toured it our last trip, and I thought that would make me feel better about it, but it didn't. It just looks like it could be in any city, and the decor does absolutely nothing for me. Add to that the fact that I have to walk to the MK (my least attended park), and there is just no upside to it for me. Sure, the MK view would maybe be nice....ONCE. I just don't see it ever being worth that many points to me though.
