I have never seen any reviews for this restaurant. How is it? do they have specialty beers

We ate there once in 2008. We had a TS meal once every day for our entire trip and it was one of the best tasting meals the entire trip. DH & I both got the dinner special that night. I keep watching for it on the menu online, but never see it. Hopefully they will offer it again. It was a bacon-wrapped steak, grilled in garlic butter. Yummmmmmm! :thumbsup2

DH is the specialty beer drinker and he was happy with their selection. We're going back this November and it's definitely on our list of must-do places.

Good beer, great view if it's cool enough to eat outside, food O.K.! You don't need reservations, the restaurant is a bit noisy and oddly shaped. I find it a bit crowded and prefer to eat outside. The food is on par with ESPN!

Maybe we'll see you there?

I am looking forward to giving it a try :))

I go to Big River at least once on each trip to WDW (usually for lunch). The food is standard bar fare, but is tasty and well prepared (and much better than ESPN, which is horrible). The beers are somewhat unique and interesting. The service is fine. Sitting outside on the Boardwalk to enjoy lunch is very relaxing. All in all, well worth a trip if you have never been there.

We went a few years ago and none of us cared for it. I remember getting a steak that was very fatty and overcooked.

Big River is owned and operated by CraftWorks Restaurants and Breweries, which also runs the Old Chicago, Rock Bottom and Gordon Biersch chains (among others). If you're familiar with any of those, it might give you a sense of what to expect at Big River. IMO, the food is decent and the beers are better than at places that offer only American macros, but neither are spectacular.

We always eat at the Big River on arrival day. The beers are quite good, the food is pretty good and the view sitting on the boardwalk is spectacular. It's a really fun place to eat. We never eat inside. It's all about being outside on the boardwalk.

we aren't very picky people and pretty much love every meal we eat at disney....except here. in fact, it's the only place where i've ever sent back my meal. ick.

but you know how these things go, it could have been a bad day. plus, what one person doesn't like might be what another person likes! i've read bad reviews of places and have really enjoyed those places (ex: liberty tavern CS).

We've eaten here twice and enjoyed it. I believe we've had typical bar food like burgers both times though. And the beers are good.

This is the place for beer with food being secondary. This is a place where you often see guest leave with food on the plates and waiting to get their check. If you go with the expectation its about the beer and they serve bar food you should be in line with what they provide. These types of establishment are not focused on service to the level of other dining options in the area.

To quote an esteemed DIS'er: "Good for a beer and a burger, and that's about it".

Do they accept the basic DDP?

Big River is on the list of DDP restaurants in 2011 and requires one TS credit. it is NOT currently on the list of participating restaurants in 2012, but could be added later.

Also, you can't make a reservation at Big River through the Disney dining number. You can make reservations by calling the restaurant directly.

We ate there last time, and really enjoyed it. My Greenhouse Salad was huge, fresh, well clean & crisp! Our drinks were wonderful. Our favorite was the chicken nachos we all split before... Sooo Good!!!:thumbsup2

We are looking forward to going back this trip. It's very convenient quick walk from the Dolphin! Fun to sit outside and watch the happenings on the Boardwalk too!
