Tell me about Biergarten

Biergarten is one of our top 5 at WDW! In fact, my DS 8 requested this for our September trip because he loved the schnitzel!
We went to Biergarten the 1st time last year (our wedding trip!) with my dad and brother. We made reservations here because we knew my dad would love it. He and my mom (who passed away May 2009) traveled to Germany on several occasions and eating at Biergarten was to remember my mom. The food was fantastic and the show was amazing. I got to waltz with my dad which was really special. DSs loved the chicken dance!

I'm going against everybody else but we hated Biergarten! My DH & DD16 love German food but they didn't like it either. DD11 & DD6 couldn't find anything they liked, at all. I liked a few things but certainly not enough to ever recommend it to someone else or go back again. We are a family of 5 & were seated with another couple. The entertainment was good.

We recommend Biergarten also, which is kind of surprise if you knew us.

We are shy.

We are picky eaters, don't eat out much, and we really were wary about all those strange German words listed on the menus posted at Allears! But we wanted to go out of our comfort zone and try new things.

We were seated with another family of 4 who was also shy, so there was no discomfort at all. If you're shy, you're sort of sitting at your end, and they're sitting at their end, and the music is loudly playing, so there's no pressure. We did chat with them a bit when the music was done, and then we all settled in comfortably with our own groups again.

We loved the food! All the strange-sounding names didn't amount to much in the end; there were different brats, sausages, potatoes, potato salads, etc. and it was very good. 2 of us were gluten free, so the chef took us around to tell us which we could eat and which we couldn't, and there was still plenty to choose from for us too.

Fortunately, we didn't run into the herrings.

By the way, our two BEST favorites of the week were Le Cellier and Ohanas at the Polynesian Resort. Biergarten would be next in line.

We will be there in Oct. for the first time and it looks like it will be a good time. I kind of had reservations about sitting with other people but my wife and kids are chatterboxes so I'm sure we will be fine. When I get a beer in me I might talk up a storm.

This is our family's one absolute must-do restaurant. It's so much fun, the food is excellent for a buffet (and we're kind of food snobs), our kids love it, and we've never had a bad experience there. It's already top of the list for our next trip back.

I will say that we've never had a problem eating with other families, although we did once have a family refuse to sit with us (they apparently refused to sit with anybody and were eventually seated somewhere in the back of the restaurant). That was a little awkward, but the family they replaced them with was awesome, so it ended up being fun.

To the poster with the child with special needs, I bet that if you explain the situation to them, and perhaps book at a less prime time, they would be able to work with you. While our son's special needs don't impact us in that way, we have found Disney to be incredible to work with for special accommodations and I bet that they can figure out a solution for you.

We had a very good experience at Biergarten. We're a family of 5 (with 3 young children) and we were seated with a lovely older couple and a nice middle-aged woman traveling solo (she picked Biergarten so she wouldn't be dining alone). We seated the children away from the "strangers" and nearer the show so they wouldn't feel shy. The grandfatherly man went to the buffet and brought back pretzels for my children (which they loved). So thoughtful!

My DH and children do not eat any pork so that worried me a little bit. Not an issue at all! There was plenty that they could eat and everyone liked it. My daughter even insisted on going downstairs to dance! It was in early December so there were Christmas carols and the musicians handed out gold coins.

We don't have plans to go back on this trip but that might change as we re-work our ADRs.

I'm so happy to read all of these great reviews! We are going to Biergarten for the first time this October and I'm really excited! We are all adults and don't mind sitting with others (If I can sit next to strangers during Philharmagic, I can sit next to them while I eat!) so we are really looking forward to it!

Reading the menu isn't helping me decide.

I am looking for a restaurant in the WS that would be fun for kids and grandparents too......but great food is a must because the grandparents are hard to please!!!:goodvibes

I've planned on LeCellier, but I make ADR's tomorrow, so now would be the time to change my mind. We have a 2nd day at Epcot that we could eat at LeCellier later in the trip (without the grandparents)!
Our kids rate Biergarten as a must do. We also agree with them. Large stein of beer and a good selection of food with the entertainment make for a great time everytime. Not all TS restaurants can make this claim with our family. When it comes to dessert I would recommend getting the Bavarian Cheesecake and the Berry Compote. Top the cheesecake with the berry compote and enjoy.:thumbsup2

allears says that drinks are included, and everyone mentions the beer. Is beer included as a beverage? If so :thumbsup2. Not that we are big beer drinkers, but once in awhile a cold stein hits the spot!:goodvibes

No, beer and wine are extra (but well worth it!)
My husband and I enjoyed the beer flights. German beers make me :)

We visited Biergarten for the first time last week and we all enjoyed ourselves. We were a group of 9 so we sat by ourselves. My DW was apprehensive (she is a picky eater) but commented that it was one of the better places we have eaten at WDW. One of our recommendations would be the cheesecake for dessert. Very light and creamy.

Thank you, ToyStoryBo and all who responded. This was a question I had been pondering and it looks like Biergarten just made it to the list for next year's trip. :thumbsup2

What size party would get a table to themselves? We want to try Biergarten but not sure how dd would be sitting with others? She has PDD and while she wouldn't act out she isn't really social and is awkward when she is in that kind of situation. So she would not eat. I can talk to her before but you never know how she will BE once in that situation. We would be a party of 5 and from what it sounds like we would be with another family.

Our table sat 8, so it was the 6 of us and then another married couple.

Could you put your dd on the inside away from the other dining guests? When we were there, I sat on the outside and held the conversations while everyone else in our party were totally ignorant to what was going on over by me...
