I got a terriffic deal on one of those SWA packages and I will be flying out of BWI. Its about an extra 75 minutes in travel time to the airport but for the price, I am not complaining. I chose an afternoon flight so we don't have to rush. But I need to know how easy to get in the airport and park. I'll be alone with my 2 girls. Where to park? Also does SWA have curbside checkin? And will 2 hours be enough time. Any other tips?

Thanks.

Hi! I live about 10 minutes from BWI and have flown several times out of there, though only twice on SW. Parking around BWI is easy, there are several choices, all of them close by. We prefer "Fast Park" They're only about a minute from the terminals. It's well-lit and safe. The shuttles will follow you to your car and help you with your luggage. They will also drop you off directly to your car and make sure that you're safely in it before they leave you. The shuttles run regularly. Here's a link to BWI http://www.bwiairport.com/ (Hope it works!) If it doesn't, just punch in www.bwiairport.com and follow the link to directions and parking, Airport Fastpark can be found there. I believe that Curbside check-in is now allowed on SW, however, you should check directly with the airline to confirm. Hope this helps!

We've flown Southwest out of BWI quite a few times - the last time was in October 2002. You can check your bags at curbside.

BWI has several parking options on their website with good directions. I think you'll find it pretty easy.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure will do just fine!

Is parking in the satellite lot a major inconvenience? I saw on the website that it is $7/day w/7th day free. Great but I'm traveling w/4 kids & no hubby. Is there anyone to help get all of the bags on the shuttle? We're flying Airtran.

Can you curbside check your bags then park the car in the satellite parking lot?

Hey skinsfan, I grew up in Glen Burnie and just noticed your post. I am in Pasadena now but this the first time I've ever seen a GB Diser!

we don't find it inconvenient, but we usually travel pretty light. with 4 kids and no hubby, it might be more difficult, but still doable. there is no one there to help with getting bags on and off the shuttle.

caitycaity-thanks for your reply. Now I have to find a hotel close by the airport.

Do you know of any airport hotels that would allow me to leave my car parked for 12 days? ;)

The Hampton Inn has a fenced lot for leaving your car while you're on your trip. We've used them a couple times and I don't think it costs extra if you stay one night with them.

Well, you may not get the cheapest room rate, but the parking will be included in it.

Thanks, Doreen!

We're driving from Harrisburg the night before to make sure we're not late for our early morning flight!

Hubby is going to brave rush hour from Harrisburg to BWI on 7/3- hopefully 3 and a half hours is enough time to get there and on the plane!

We use preflight for business and vacations. The link is www.preflightparking.com - they have web coupons. They always seem to have a van ready & waiting to pick you up. They drive right up to your car and help you load & unload your stuff. We always park the car and ride together because the kids enjoy the bus ride. Our luggage all has wheels so the kids help roll their stuff around.
