We are planning a trip to Washington, DC, this May, and I'm trying to figure out what kind of purse/backpack/messenger bag type of thingie to take with me.

Normally when we go to WDW DH carries a regular, full-size backpack. However, I've noticed that several places in DC prohibit bringing in full-size backpacks, so I'm trying to come up with alternatives. If my memory serves me, I've seen Baggallini bags raved about here before.

They seem a bit pricey, but if they are fantastic, then I dont' mind. I'm looking for something light weight that can either cross over my shoulder or be a small backpack.

So, tell me all about Baggallini please. :)

One more bump--anyone have any opinions?

Thanks, Dan. So you would say the messenger bag is unisex? I would love to have Colin lug it around instead of me. ;)

I might get a smaller one if I have to carry it.

Hi

I use the Bagalinni "city bag" every day. It's really lightweight and comfortable to wear. I bought it in brown at our local hallmark store a cople months ago..

They had a big variety of bags. Also, our local AAA carries them.

There was a thread awhile back on the budget board about these bags. Lots of Bagalinni lovers over there.

I bought a Baggalini for Disney one year and only used it for that one trip. I didn't care for it because the credit card slots are not designed well. The slots are too loose and wide and the cards slip down or fall out easily. Other than that it was a good bag. So if you can use it and also use your handbag, there ya go. :thumbsup2

Hi Elisabeth. :wave2:

I purchased one a few years back, finally changing from my hip bag I used for many years. I like it a lot, works very nicely. Well designed, comfortable.

I use this one, a dark brown......

Use both of these to lower the cost even further, if questions, Elisabeth, send me a PM.....

oh thank God you posted tonight Dan, someone actually said today on another thread (things that bother you the most on the Dis or something like that) that you were no longer here:scared1: . The Dis would never be the same if you left, so I am very releaved.:) :thumbsup2 Now back to Baggalini's!

This is so funny.....I am also going to Washington D.C. (in April) and I am so excited that I have my Baggallini to take with me.

I bought it before our first WDW trip a year and 1/2 ago after reading about it on the DIS and researching it and some other bags. I LOVE it!! I used it the entire Disney trip and then again last may when we went to Busch Gardens and any other little trips we take where I just don't want to lug a purse around but need things with me.

I tend to carry everything you could possibly need with me. (Tide pen, baby wipes, small first aid kit, medicine, sunscreen, sewing kit, extra hair ties, you name it, I have it) There are so many convenient little pockets to put stuff in and it is so light weight. It is pretty small too....smaller than my purse anyway. It is also pretty uni-sex so I can convince my DH to take turns carrying it. I really love the zippered pocket up high on the shoulder strap for putting my cell phone in. It is right up against my chest where I can feel it on vibrate and high enough so that I can actually hear it!

I just wish I had it in a fun color (mine is brown). I don't think you will regret using this bag on your trip. Plus it is waaaaaay less dorky than a fanny pack! Hope you have fun!!

Oh I love mine!

I have the same one posted above in lime green.

You can carry a toddler and 5 huge mickey rice krispie treats in that thing. ;)

It's rooomy.

OK....after all that I gave in and went and ordered another one in purple. :cool1: One thing....they come in 2 (actually 3 if you count the ECO series) fabrics. The crinkle nylon and the rip-stop nylon. I have (and ordered my new one) in the crinkle. Here are my opinions:

While the bags seem to have the exact same features, the rip-stop is about $10-$15 cheaper. It's colors are also brighter the fabric looks thinner and the nylon has a "checkered" effect to it. I find that the crinkle nylon looks nicer and less, for lack of a better word, flimsy. It's colors are more muted and also come two toned where as the rip-stop is one solid color (but lots of bright colors to chose from). My brown one has red-orange lining in places.....not inside the entire bag but mostly inside the front zippered part. My new plum colored one has olive. You can't really see any of the other color when the bag is zipped but I like that. If you like really bright colors, than that won't matter to you. (It does however matter to my DH since he is not about to carry anything "girly"!!;) )

Hope you find the bag you are looking for!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking about getting the city bag if I wind up carrying it. If DH winds up carrying it, the messenger looking one would probably go over better with him.

Yes, I would say it is, Elisabeth, at least I hope it is. :) Here is another link, more and better pictures, as well as how it looks on a person, though that site is more expensive then the links I posted earlier.....

:faint: Hi Jill. :wave2: I am still here, hard to get rid of me, LOL. Just don't visit this board much anymore, mostly stick to the theme park board, less of a hassle generally. And the DIS will be here long after I am gone. :happytv: Thanks for your concern, Jill.
