Tell me about AKL Mara and also the African Stew

We will be at AKL for a night next month and thought we may give this counter service a try! Is everyone pleased with the quality and offerings? Also, what is the African Stew that I saw listed on the menu?

We really liked Maras - thought it was one of the best counter service of the trip - we had the shrimp and fries - they were greasy though, but large, the cheese flatbread which was pretty bland to me but DD10 loved it, and the stew which was fabulous - reminded me of the coconut curry chicken stew from Bomas but it was beef, served in a sour dough loaf. DS10 had a burger which he loved. Zebra domes for dessert - sat outside by the pool. Would definitely do it again.

We ate at Mara's for the first meal of our 7 day stay with the DDP and out of everything we ate (and we ate a LOT) the African Stew was my FAVORITE. Tender chicken in a full-flavored, thick stew with a hint of curry served in a thick bread bowl ... it was heaven. I could easily have eaten it for every other meal on property. Beyond that I don't have much to say about Mara's - we only ate there the once and DH got the shrimp (not many for the price, I thought) and soda. No other sides, deserts, or otherwise. The cherry coke is good, if that helps.
