I have not flown in almost 5 years, so paying for seats (done) and baggage is new to me.

We are flying AirTran, since it was the least expensive flight, and, the best direct flight from BUF to MCO.

I know it is basic service (no TVs/movies) and that's fine. I am bringing the personal DVD player and DD can watch a movie and play with a sticker book while we are on the plane.

Questions:

I am hoping to use curbside check-in at the airport in BUF since it is just easier that way. How does that work since we have to pay for the bags? Do I just print out my boarding passes from home the night before?

Or do I need to check in at the AirTran counter and pay there?

I fly AIRTRAN all the time. We print our boarding passes at one of the Kiosk's they have there. You can pre-pay for baggage but we never do. We are always worried ours will be over weight and we will just have to pay again. So we pay at the counter. I don't think we have ever waited in line, but we always fly at unusual times! :)

Our airport is never crowded in the AM when we fly. We are going to be arriving to the airport around 6:15am so I know it will be dead. I would assume we will probably just go right inside and through the line.

We flew Air Tran for the value also. We had a connection in Atlanta. All of our flights were late both on the way to FL and on the way back to MI, which ment delays and missing connections. We took the train from MI to the airport in Chicago IL and the delays cause us to miss our train which stranded us in Chicago. We learned two things taking the train was not a good idea and the discount was not worth the hassle

We've flown AirTran out of BUF before. We printed passes and paid for baggage the day before. On a side note...I'm very disappointed in the SW/AT merger. I've always enjoyed flying AT. A little different discount service than SW.
