I was thinking about trying to book a 2 bedroom for next April ( until I saw the point chart for a 2 bedroom, OUCH, I'll stick with HHI ) but maybe I'll try a June trip instead.

FWIW, I love HHI, the quiet, laid back feel to the place. Cooking out and relaxing.

I live in Charleston, SC and don't like any East Coast beaches, so that part is pretty unimportant.

I've never been to HHI so I couldn't compare. We always get the ocean view inn rooms. One of these trips we will get a 1BR, but for now - we are spoiled with the ocean view. Vero Beach is kind of secluded. You are close to Publix and Walmart, so you can get anything you need. There are some near by restaurants. But pretty much we go for the ocean. The ocean is like a 5 minute walk from your room. That is our "theme park". And then there is the pool and the hot tub. We've never eaten at the restaurant there. There is a lot you can do if you want - bike riding, miniature golf etc. Do you have any specific questions? Someone can direct you to the Vero Beach Adoration thread and you can read pages and pages about the resort.

I loved Vero, I went in November and it was fantastic to go, it was very peaceful and relaxing and I would definatly go again.

You do need a car to get around but that isn't a big deal. I just went for a long weekend and only made a couple of trips to Wal-Mart for some groceries. I walked down the shoreline for quite a ways and it was just fantastic. The pool was a bit chilly in the evening - it was November after all - but still nice.

I really had a great time and would definatly do it again.

We like to go to Vero Beach during turtle season. We are always hoping to see baby turtles heading for the open water. :teeth:

It's definitely a beach vacation with little else to do but relax. There are some limited activities, but nothing at all as hectic as the parks.

If you like Hilton Head then you'll like this.

We've dined at both restaurants and have been underwhelmed by both. :)

We love the view from the Green Room, but this past summer were not pleased with the poor service. They seem to have changed out bartenders and the new ones didn't really seem to have their heart (or their skills) into it.

All in all, a lovely place for a quiet stay. ::yes::

We stayed at Vero this past October. At the time, my son was 4.5yo, and I was 6 months pregnant with my son. It was the perfect place for my son, and SO relaxing. The beach had some crazy waves, we saw a shark (at a distance, not JAWS style), and the weather was perfect. My son loved the pool, the waterslide, and the spray-park area. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of the mini golf, but we lazed around the pool and the beach most of the time. Enjoyed the food at the counter service by the pool, and we ate at the restaurant and found the food to be delicious. No problems at all. Was very sad to leave! Looking forward to our next stay there, a great family vacation! Hope you enjoy it!
