*** Television, Fall 2009 ***

Hey bicker, are you watching The forgotten? Was curious as to what you thought about it. I'm having a hard time getting into it. I know it's all about ordinary people helping the police but I think I'd like it better if each person had some sort of "specialty" that they were bringing to the group.

I feel the same way you do... it's watchable but not really having much impact. It's on the bottom of our Season Pass list; we may or may not watch future episodes, depending on whether time permits.

Recent News:
New York, NY – October 13, 2009 – It was quite a week for Syfy. Propelled by Sanctuary, Stargate Universe and the Original Movie Megafault, Syfy was the #3 cable entertainment network in Adults 25-54, behind only USA and TBS, for the week ending October 11.
#3 cable entertainment network in a prime demographic... I cannot see how anyone can continue to consider their efforts over the last few years to be anything other than a massive success.

Baseball playoffs continue on TBS and Fox.

Tuesday, October 20
Season Finale of Shark Tank (NBC)

Friday, October 23
Season Premiere of Supernanny (ABC)

Next Week:
Baseball playoffs continue on Fox.
Series Premiere of The League.

Fox has released their schedule for the rest of the year. There are two notable points:

First, they're not canceling anything (not even Dollhouse).

Second, House will be preempted or reruns throughout the month of December. Combined with a couple of preemptions coming up this month, that'll put House (which started this season with a lot of episodes early-on) with Episode 11 in January (which is still at, or even an episode ahead of where they normally are, so don't be concerned).

Sorry for this being a little late... I'm just back from vacation this morning... probably not a big deal since practically nothing is starting up this week.

Baseball post-season play continues on Fox...

Wednesday, October 28
Special Presentation: Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space (NBC)

Thursday, October 29
Series Premiere of The League (FX)

Next week:
Premieres of "V", Legend of the Seeker.
Finale of Greek.

I read in the newspaper that Castle has been picked up for a full season. YAY!!

Kim

Castle was a bit of a surprise, since it isn't really doing all that well.

Of the new shows, the following have been picked up for a full season: Vampire Diaries, Cougar Town, Modern Family, Community, Cleveland Show, The Middle, The Good Wife, Flash Forward, Melrose Place (almost), and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Of the new shows, the following have not been picked up for a full season (yet): Accidentally on Purpose, Brothers, Hank, Eastwick, The Forgotten, Mercy, Trauma, Three Rivers (and, of course, The Beautiful Life, which is already canceled).

I'm surprised that the Middle is doing so well; while it is a borderline show, in the ratings, borderline is better than below the border, eh?

Keep in mind, with regard to Mercy and Trauma, neither show was ever intended for a full season. (Mercy wasn't even supposed to start until the winter.) Good thing: Neither show would have a chance of getting a back-nine order, given how poorly they're both doing. Only Law & Order is doing worse on NBC.

Leno is beginning to struggle now. It only met its goal one day this week (just missing the mark on all four other days, so it isn't really tanking, per se).

So NBC has got a bit of a problem. Chuck is waiting in the wings, and there is even time to order more episodes, if desired, but beyond that, all they have to back-fill Mercy, Trauma and Law & Order is Day One, which has been reduced to a mini-series already (just like "V"), so it is unlikely there is much will, there, to order more episodes.

Moving on...

I think Eastwick still has a (small) chance, but I think the rest are either not going to make it the full season, or at best be canceled after one season. Three Rivers, Melrose Place, Til Death, Brothers, Hank and the Forgotten have very little chance of making it to May.

Oh, and Dollhouse, it's a goner, IMHO. Bumped from November sweeps, the remaining nine episodes will be broadcast (Fox has said so, in specifically those terms), but I would not expect a back-nine order, nor a renewal.

While several other series have received full-season orders (like Mercy), Trauma has not, and so it will end after its originally-planned 13 episode run. It should be noted that Trauma was never intended to be presented in the Winter/Spring; it was planned from the start that it would be replaced mid-season by Day One.

The World Series concludes on Fox.

Monday, November 2
Season Finale of Greek (ABC Family)

Tuesday, November 3
Premiere of the mini-series "V" (ABC)

Next Week:
Season Finale of Mad Men, Lincoln Heights

Sunday November 8
Season Finale of Mad Men (AMC)

Next Week:
Mini-series The Prisoner (AMC)
Special Merry Madagascar (NBC)
Season Finale of South Park (Comedy)

A rumor circulating is that Numb3rs has had its season order cut to 16 episodes. That would be a bad sign for the series, which is doing even less impressively in the ratings than usual, this year.

Was very happy to hear about Castle. I love that show!

I figured that the Forgotten would be be going. It just isn't pulling me in.

I'm giving a :thumbsup2to White Collar so far. There have only been two episodes so far but the two main guys seem to be hitting it off.

I feel silly for even asking but I blame reruns via A&E.

On Criminal Minds when did Garcia become a full time character? I only saw her on and off during the first season.
