Telephone Interviews..Advise???

I just recieved a phone call from a recruiter at a hospital I'd LOVE to work at!!! I am very psyched!!! The manager in the ER wants to do a phone interview with me???!!!! Never have done a phone interview before, any tips?

At least I don't have to put on panty hose and iron my 'nice' dress again this week. I find the telephone interview a weird concept, why do they do that???

This is for a job at our childrens hospital...OMG!!!! This would totally ROCK!!!!!! 12 hour shifts!!!! I really want/need this job!!!!!!


Please....any advise would be totally awesome!!

Smile! This might sound corny, but sit in front of a mirror - your smile will come through on the phone. Also, keep your resume in front of you to refer to it when asked. Be upbeat and just like for a face to face interview, prepare yourself by researching the company and job requirements so you can ask good questions. Before you hang up ask the interviewer if they have any concerns - and if they do address them - don't hang up without letting them know your interest if you think it's something you'd enjoy.

They do it to save time. They can weed out undesirable candidates quickly on the phone. You can tell a lot about someone by their phone voice & deminor.

Great advise!!! I haven't been this excited about a job...ever!!!! I am going to have to do some research on that specific filed and about their ER/ED. WOW!!! We get so many referals at my current job. They send us a ton of kids, so to be on the other end would be the incredible. I have no experience, but am SOOOOO willing to learn.
I love working with adolescents/children.

Dress up-or at least wear something other than lounging around the house clothes. Make sure you're comfortable. Keep distractions to a minimum.
