Ever since applying to be on my state's "Do Not Call List" I have been getting 10 times more telemarketing calls! The "Do Not Call" list is supposed to be accessed by telemarketers and they aren't allowed to call you. I am not sure how long they have to comply, but I feel like my phone number was given to the telemarketers as a "do not call" who use my number as a "call me constantly because you soon won't be able to". Does anyone have this problem? It is driving me nuts. I can't remember the WEB address I used to get on the "do not call" list to check when it goes into effect.

I subscribed to this list and it has helped a lot. I used to get called constantly, but since July (which is when it went into effect) I think I've only counted 3 calls that I've received that I shouldn't have. Be aware that calls from political candidates are allowed...we get inundated with these around election time - I wish we could eliminate those! Also, charities and businesses that you have done business with in the past are allowed to call. Other than that, it's been great. The lists are updated quarterly, so your number probably just hasn't been submitted yet.

I don't know when you placed your request kpgclark, but here in Pennsylvania, where the Do Not Call List just began, they told us that it would take about 3 months (or quarterly) to notice a reduction in calls.
Also, we have the same "stipulations" - does not apply to charities, political candidates, etc - as KimR said that there are where she lives. These plans must be administered pretty much the same no matter where you are.

:)

Thanks. I am actually from PA too. I didn't realize it was quarterly.

What worked for me was to send back those privacy notices that my credit card companies sent out. They were the ones who called the most. I also mailed in the form to the DMA as well about the same time. I can't remember when I last got a telemarketing call.

I bet that 98% of our telemarketing calls have stoped since we joined the Texas Do Not Call list.

And to think....$2.50 for 2 years....I would have spent $20.50!

I signed-up for the do-not-call-list and don't receive any solicitation calls at all. Here in Indiana, it is free to sign-up and has been great.

Gary, I agree. It is great.
