Question for the moms out there. My daughter (5 months old) is teething right now and seems to be having a bad time with it. Aside from using those cold teething toys did you find something that works better?

The only thing I have found to work is Tylenol and more Tylenol. As much as I hate giving my kids meds sometimes it's all that works.

I hope she feels better soon! Poor little thing. And poor MOM!

check with your ped on this one to make sure it is okay to expose her to the flour (and potentially egg), but I used hard frozen bagels.....I would hold and my kids would chew away on them. When they got soft enough to get mushy and parts coming off (the bagel, not the kid)- on to the next piece!

Good luck.....remember that sleep/nap cycles can get disrupted during teething, colds seem to be more common (not CAUSED by teething, but more hand in mouth so more germs), and cranky/clinging babies! But, this too shall pass. Just wait till she bites you with her first sharp toothie! And wait till she bites herself (that is worth the picture alone once YOU calm down)....

my kids are now much older: DD19, DD15, DD11, and DD9. I remember those days fondly- probably because I am not dealing with them! Doesn't it just seem like yesterday she was born- next thing you know she will be DRIVING those teeth around town!

We've broken down and given her some tylenol. Still kind of fussy but we hope she will soon tire out.

Sleep/nap cycles are definitely being disrupted. She is definitely very cranky/clinging right now. I can't even step out of her sight for a second.

I know this too shall pass and in all honesty it really isn't that bad. I just feel so bad for her. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be for them.

I feel your pain. My DD#2 (20m) has been teething NON STOP for 12m. I swear she has to have 90 teeth by now. :rotfl2:

Right now she's working on 2 teeth and I've always given her tylenol b/c it seems to disrupt her sleeping and eating.

When she was getting her first teeth, we used to just let her chew on our knuckles and that seemed to make her the happiest. I also used to use the safe feeder (http://babysafefeeder.com/) and put apples or other fruits/veggies in it for her to chew on.

Good luck!

Try taking one of the little baby sized wash cloths and wet it down, roll it up and freeze it. Not only can the baby hold it (I wrapped it in another washcloth to protect little hands) and chew away but they can't choke on it, can't swallow it, and there are no sharp corners. My daughter loved it because it was also cold on her gums. I feel your pain. My daughter got no teeth til she was 13 months old and then seemed to do nothing but teeth for a year (Runny nose and all). Hope it helps.
