O.K, this is perhaps a strange question but has anyone had their teeth whitened while in Orlando, I was thinking of having mine done...because it`s half the price compared to the U.K....If so does it really take an hour?

Ive never thought of doing that over there but its not a bad idea! How much is it, where do you get it done etc?

I`ve seen an add in one of the orlando coupen books for $465 thats compared to our dentist wanting to charge £600.. :teeth:

I had mine done at my dentist here before our last trip to Florida. Cost hundreds for a mould to be made and the whitening gel (which is just peroxide). I found in Florida that you buy kits off the shelf in pharmacies like Walgreens which contain the same gel and an applicator for only about $30.

don't they sell the Crest white strips in the UK?
we've been in the states for almost a month now and have done a bit of a study of what's available (including consulting consumer reports)..

in the end my daughter bought the 7 day Crest kit (about $32 per kit, although we just saw it on sale at kmart for $26, including some bonus gifts)..

Crest has 7 day, 14 day and 21 day kits (the longer the time required, the cheaper the kit)..

i think there may even be a new 5 day kit out..

in any case, we bought the 7 day kit and my daughter's been using it for 4 days now and her teeth are definitely much whiter than when she began..

according to consumer reports, the crest white strips get the best results, even in some cases better than the dentist treatment.

you can buy the kits in any store (kmart, target, walmart, walgreen, etc)....

Thanks Beth, I think I will buy the crest kit and try it at home when I get back :teeth:

Another vote for the crest strips!! :teeth:

I bought them from Publix I think I got the 14 day and it's supposed to last for around 18 months it was about $30 and it does truly work. I did this in May and my teeth still look much whiter. On our next trip my partner and sister are going to try it. It's well worth the cost and I can't see that having it done at a dentist would be much different.

The only advantage of a dentist is the ultra violet light treatment only takes an hour, but expensive.
