Have you whitened your teeth?

If so what did you use and did it work..
Let me know the stuff that works and the stuff that doesn't work..

I am getting married and want to have white teeth for the big day..my dentist is offering a special to get it professionally done it will cost $175 and they give you a try fit for your mouth and the whitening agent..but if I can find a cheaper over the counter stuff I will try it first...TIA

I tried the advanced Crest White strips and they didn't work for me.

But I'm assuming if you're getting married soon , I am older than you with many years of smoking (quit 7 years ago) and drinking coffee(3 cups a day) behind me to yellow my teeth.

I got the whitening trays at the dentist that includes the 2 boost treatments at the begining and end and then use the trays at home for 2 weeks in between. I've had many people comment on how white my teeth are and I'm only half way through the process.

I went to a Brite Smile center to get my teeth whitened. They use a blue light which activates a gel. That procedure only takes an hour. If you go to their website, there is a coupon. I think the normal price is $500. The coupon knocks it down to $399. Although, I've also seen it for less. My regular dentist wanted to charge me $500. I didn't want to pay the dentist for that same procedure when I could have it done anywhere.

I love how white my teeth became. It was the first time I professionally had them whitened. I drink coffee. They were a natural white, not the fake, overly bright white that celebs get. I needed to have my teeth whitened because the following week, I had veneers/porcelain laminates put on a couple teeth. The dentist had to make a special color for my teeth as they were whiter than his usual colors.

For a touch up, I'm going to try the Crest strips and see if that works. I've read others say good things about it.

My brother recently used the Crest Whitestrips and I was amazed at how well they worked. He is a non smoker, rare coffee drinker so they weren't brown to start with but it was quite a drastic improvement.

I tried the Crest Whitestrips when they first came out. I didn't notice a difference at all, but it did irritate my gums. DH used the trays from the dentist, and I was VERY impressed by the difference they made.

Just adding my experience. I tried Crest Whitestrips, and they hurt so much. The same thing happened with my grandma. I had them on for 2 minutes and this sharp pain shot through my teeth and I tore them off. It may just be my sensitive teeth, but I've read of a few other people having the same problem.

Good luck!

I didn't like the Crest Whitestrips or the trays from the dentist, but the ZOOM worked great! I've had it done twice, it worked very well, I didn't have the discomfort that I did from the trays and whitestrips and I was happy to have it over and done with in an afternoon as opposed to having to do something for a couple of weeks.

I use the Advanced Crest Whitestrips and they work fine for me. I bought them at Costco. I wear them for a half hour a day for 2 weeks and then have "boosters" that I'll wear for 5 minutes a day. I might use the "boosters" sparingly.

Years ago, I had the gel and mouth guard-type, but the gel was way too strong for my gums.

I didn't care for the original crest whitestrips. But, I really love the newer Crest 3DWhite Whitestrips!! :thumbsup2 I've also seen several good coupons for them in the Sunday paper inserts.

I used the trays and gel from the dentist's office several years ago with good results. Then about 2 years ago, I tried Crest Whitestrips and they worked pretty well. I thought I had lost my custom trays but recently found them. I'm going to pick up some gel next time I see the dentist so I can use them.

I do have a comment about the Zoom procedure. My mom and 2 of my coworkers had it done. I must say I didn't notice a difference with any of them. I didn't tell them that because I know they paid a lot for it. But my mom even said later she expected better results. One of my coworkers still has slightly brown teeth, especially in the spaces between her teeth. I know it works for some people but it didn't seem to work for the three I know.

Any of you who still have the leftover Crest strips, might try what I did. I had the original strips that took weeks to work. I was never disciplined enough to do that. Finally, so as not to waste them, I peeled off the strip, took my wet toothbrush and scraped off the Crest whitening goo and simply brushed for long minutes with it. I did about two strips at a time.

They did seem to brighten my teeth. :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, I didn't keep that up daily either. That's why I finally went with the one hour Brite Smile process.
