Teeny Tiny windshield chip

My first instinct would be to leave it. It's actually my second instinct too since you said it's tinier than a bread crumb, but the chips turning into cracks stories would freak me out.

I suppose it's possible to take it to a glass shop, and if they laugh at you and say nothing can be done, there's your answer.

I'm thinking about taking it in and if they laugh at me, oh well..at least I know. :rotfl:

If you have comprehensive coverage on your auto policy, your insurance should cover having the chip repaired at no cost to you. My policy covers up to three chips under one claim. We had a chip repaired today, in fact. No cost to us. The mobile glass company came out to my husband's workplace and repaired the chip in 20 minutes. In many states your comprehensive deductible does not apply to glass breakage, so even when we had to have a windshield replaced last year, it was paid for in full by our insurance carrier.

You should call your auto carrier and find out what kind of coverage you have.

I'm in the "get it fixed right away" camp.

We got a chip in our windshield a few months ago and chose to ignore it...BAD IDEA!! LOL

It went from a little chip to a crack that spanned across the whole windshield!!

When I finally went to the glass shop, I learned that it would have cost me $65 to fill the crack instead of the $200 it cost to replace the whole piece.

If nothing else you should go get an estimate.

Same here. DH has gotten 2 chips in the past 6 months and we've gotten them filled for free under our insurance -- they've come to our house both times. Heck, last time they vacuumed out the inside of the car for free too!
