I am really struggling this year with what to get DS (15) for Christmas:eek:

Due to work obligations I will have a much shortened "window" to get my shopping done :headache:

He is a "gamer" with a Nintendo DS, PS2, and Wii (at grandparents). So I'm considering an XBOX 360 as it has more games that he would enjoy. BUT the PS2 still works fine and most of the games are still available on PS2 (cheaper too), it won't be connected to the internet, and he doesn't have a HDTV in his room so much of the plusses of the XBOX 360 are lost. So is this really the way to go?????

Another idea is an IPOD. But theft is an issue at school so I don't know how much use this would get????

Legos - I'll be getting a couple sets that he's mentioned. But he puts these together so quick that it's tough to pay out the $ for these.

So any other ideas of parents with teens????? If you could all share your lists it might help me figure out mine :goodvibes

My DS (13) loves his ipod. He is not allowed, nor has he asked, to take it to school. It is great for car trips or while going for a run. He has a small speaker dock in his room so it is like having a stereo/cd player (remember those :) ) in the room. He likes music and also watching tv/movies on it (not all versions can support video though so check what you are buying). You could get the ipod and some itunes gift cards to download music he doesn't already have available to upload; could use future holidays/birthday for adding accessories.
Or you could get him some video games and/or accessories for the game systems he already has. I didn't see where you live... perhaps tickets to a sporting event or concert (unless you are attached to getting a physical gift)
We always try to get a few things from our kids' wish lists and throw in a few that we think will make them happy but they don't know it yet ;) - surprises are always fun. And it is the love the gifts are given with that counts - and the excitement of Christmas morning spent together as a family. Good luck!

DD 15 is a gamer, also, and gets gift cards for games or games themselves for Christmas. Or accessories.
Also got her an ipod, and it, as PP said, NEVER goes to school. She also has the docking system and uses it in her room.
She always wants the best of the best, :headache:, but I will not buy her a new game system when there is absolutely nothing wrong with what she has.
Also, laptop (without wifi in our case. Internet is only used in living room/family computer) is an option. I know DD uses hers quietly in her room, can take it to friends' houses for group projects, then will bring the USB clip memory thingy (can you tell I'm not to tech savy:laughing:) and plugs it into family computer and will print or email her homework that way. Dont' know if that would be something to look into possibly too? Just going on what my teen uses/does.

My son loves his Ipod and uses it all the time when in the car, walking the dog etc.
This year my son wants 'stuff' for his computer which I can't describe to you because I don't understand what he's talking about (hubby is sorting that one out).
Would he be interested in a camera?
My son always gets a bag of books which he loves.
CD's of his favourite bands/groups
A watch
ugg boots

Hi, my kids also love their IPods. They also have digital cameras that they use often. How about an I-Tunes card as a stocking-stuffer? Is he into music? Would he enjoy an acoustic guitar?

If he's a gamer, he hasn't lived until he's owned an XBox 360 :thumbsup2
