Teens and Disney

Well with the 3 ds it does get harder each year. Middle ds 14 is the problem. He thinks its gettting boring and now is really upset about the new sea raycer rules. I am almost at the point of bribing ds 16 with a friend and little ds 12 is just fine. Only a fishing trip will help ds 14 and ds 16 might need a universal day thrown in next time. Gee , its hard pleasing the masses. Ds 16 wanted me to look for teen on the teen board for our april trip. He wants to hang around others besides his 2 ds. They do like the water parks though and we let them spend alot of time at dq. The magic kingdom has about a one day max for them. I will probably do adventurers club and comedy club for oldest ds next time. Good luck all those with teens. Also have to do a buffet once a day to keep the food stuff going too.

We've been taking our boys to WDW since they were in strollers. Now they are 2nd year college men.

We have gone from kiddie menus to all you can eat buffets.

We're going next week, They are playing a different video from our previous trips each evening. It is still a big deal for them.

They help plan the trip, research menus, find something we have never done there, & we go do it. With no regrets.

I have three DDs 12, 14 and 17--and they love Disney! They would gladly go more than once a year if it was financially possible.

Now, my DH, on the other hand, goes with because "we women can't travel alone" and ends up having a good time anyway in spite of himself.

I know with boys it starts to fade in the early teen years. When my oldest DS was about 16 he signed up for summer school just so he wouldn't have to go on our Disney Vacation. This year we are just taking our middle DS who is 13 and our DD who is 8. I can see our middle DS is starting to lose interest so we are only doing the MNSSHP and Universal the rest of the trip.

When we first arrived, DD (13) told me that she didn't want an autograph book this year. That made me a little sad, but ok, I can deal with that. On our second day, though, as we were walking through MK and all the characters were out, she leaned over and whispered in my ear, "Mom, is that offer for an autograph book still open?" You betcha it is! We took pictures and got autographs and the characters were great with her. I was afraid the bear from Brother Bear was going to try to take her home! And, IMO, you're NEVER to old to have your picture taken with Mickey!

Okay, this is totally OT, and my sincere apologies, but NMAmy, your post made me tear up!! I have no idea why, except you sound like my mom and even though I'm alot older than 13, we still act like that at Disney. I am calling her right now to see when we're going again. Thanks!

I still go with my parents, on our next trip I'll be 27. I'm moved out, have my own life, and don't spend as much time with them as I used to, and it's a great way to be a family for a week without outside distractions! Now I plan it all for them and surprise them with the plans once we're there.

At one point around 18 I thought I was getting bored, but it turned out I was just coming down with a cold and not feeling my perkiest. I don't think I'll ever get sick of it...and yes, I still like to pose for pictures and eat at character meals!

I have been obsessed with Disney since I was younger and never lost any bit of interest. I am now 20 and I still LOVE Disney and can't wait to go back!

My DD16 is still a big fan. Maybe it's cuz we've always had someone with us...cousins, friends, (this year a boyfriend ) so she's not just stuck with the embarrassing mom. Yes, we do the character breakfasts and take pics with the characters. No...we no longer stand in line to do this in ToonTown (unless the lines are short). She still follows the strict traditions...only wear Disney shirts while on the trip, watch Disney videos on the drive, run at closing time to Space mountain, Splash Mountain [insert nearest e-attraction of your choice] for one last ride, put hands up (and keep them up) throughout the good rides and, of course, wear the required head gear. (Head gear progressed from a hat to bouncy antenna things to light up antenna things to the light up princess tiara her BF bought her at Fantasmic).

If I have anything to do with it...she won't lose the magic (I'm 35 and I haven't lost it yet...why should she?)

My DS's, 18 and 14 still like to go to Disney. They don't go to the character meals or like to do what they would call "kiddie" rides. They like the pools, Disney Quest, water parks, and on our last trip older DS asked to stay at Epcot to watch Illuminations. We were surprised at that! Older DS would be happy going every 3-4 years while younger DS would like to go more often. Since we won't be getting there again until at least 2007, older DS will be happy.

Im going to be 20 on my next trip..i just went in may and still got pictures with a few characters--i wont wait in line, but i was just walking around and saw pinnochio, so got a picture...
all my friends think im crazy to love disney so much!!
