Hi,
We are going to WDW for Xmas and my kids want to go to IOA as well. We (the adults) have no interest in thrill rides, so the only thing that we would be interested in is WWHP. My older daughters (17&12) would like to go alone (we'll be staying at OKW, so they'd take a shuttle). Do you think it is a good idea? Is it even allowed? They are very mature, and I would let them go alone for a day to the 6flags park we have here at home.

I'd have no issue if they were my teens. I'd say that IOA was probably safer than La Ronde.

You're probably right. Funny how people often think of their own town as the safest place there is. I think of La Ronde as a very safe place, although there was a deadly accident this summer (a ride operator who was in a restricted area for an unknown reason and got hit by the roller-coaster).

I'm going to move this thread to the main board...it doesn't really anything to do with the onsite hotels.

I guess if you were to buy the ticket for them and they didn't have to go to any will call booth where they would ask for ID then - you'll be set. The only snag is maybe you may need to be 18 to buy the tickets at the counter.

I guess you could buy the tickets online and if she needed to go to a kiosk to pick them up give her your credit card to swipe to print the tickets. You'll probably want her to have your cc if they wanted food or got stuck for what ever reason.

The park is super safe, and you can't get in much trouble waiting on lines for rides.

I chaparoned 2 trips a year for 3 years for our high school band to Universal - a handful of parents went (school rules x chap' to Y kids) but they got the two park tickets and with a few rules were on their own (had to be groups of 3 minimum ... if there is a problem cell #s ... can't leave property etc etc)

We never had a problem and I'm quite sure that for some freshman who went on the 'post band camp trip' b4 their first semester began, this was their first time allowed to be with just the gang in such a place. Our band kids respected the freedom and knew if they screwed up they'd never see that freedom again!

Heck, if they didn't behave they never would have gotten me to go the second time, much less 6!

I plan on letting my almost 16 year old and his same aged friend roam by themselves when we go in 3 weeks. But they will have to stay with us during HHN...

Th only issue I may have is the shuttle but alone at IOA at that age no problem. However my kids have grown up in those parks.

I think it's perfectly fine. I started going to IOA and USF with a friend unchaperoned when I was 14 (including HHN) on nearly a weekly basis. It was just totally normal for our parents to drop us off there for the day. They'll have a ton of fun, I'm sure! :)

Also, I don't think you'd need to worry about them getting the tickets- there are kids as young as 16 working at the parks, I doubt they'd require an age to buy a ticket.
