Just curious, how much time do your teenagers spend in the resort pool? We will be going next when my son is 14, and am just wondering if he will still find the pool interesting. When we went when he was 11, he spent a long time, just entertaining himself, especially at night, in the pool.

My kids still enjoyed the pool at that age. They loved coming back to the resort at night for a swim.

My 13 yo ds did not spend as much time in the pool as I expected. I think he would have been happy with any of the resort pools.

Last time we went my kids were 12 & 15 and they really didn't spend time in the pool at all. Don't know if it was the pool itself or they just didn't want too. I actually think I was in a quiet pool more than they were in any pool.

My (very soon to be) 15 DD likes the lazyriver part of SAB, but prefers to hang in the hot tub these past visits. That's fine..the other DD10 is still happy playing by herself in SAB or the quiet pools ..either way I enjoy sipping on whatever kind of frozen drink!

This Aug DS13 is looking forward to try out the Contemp, Poly and GF pools while we're staying at VWL (DVC)
and trying out the Boardwalk pool while we're staying at BCV w/Stormalong Bay
We're also planning on Typhoon Lagoon

According to my calculations - the amount of time your 14 year old son will spend in the pool will likely be directly correlated to the number of 13-16 year old girls in the same pool and the amount of time they are there as well! Simple math! :rotfl:

If there are teenage girls in the pools I'm sure he'll find the pool interestiing :)

My DS14 and DS11 hit the pool each day. We go to the parks in the morning and return mid-afternoon, then return to a park for the evening. We were at CBR 4/2-4/8, which I will say is a wonderful resort, and they used the main pool and quiet pools about equally.

I will also say, however, that they enjoyed lying in hammocks on the beach almost as much!

I was thinking the exact same thing!!! And at that age I spent alot of time hanging at the pool!

Newholiday,

I've seen you post before and it's nice to see a mother and son going on a trip together. I'm thinking of taking my son to Disneyland in the fall, just the two of us. I think he would miss my husband though.

We were at VWL last summer and my DS 14 and DS 12 spent about an hour in the WL pool on our arrival day. For the rest of the trip they did most of their swimming in the late evening in the villas pool (1/2 hour to an hour to relax after the parks). They also enjoyed the hot tub.

My son and I went on a mother/son trip a couple of years ago and we had the best time. We still laugh today about the things we did and encountered, and of course, my bloopers. I will cherish that time we spent together 'til the end of my days. :goodvibes There's a lot of father/son stuff for him to experience, so take advantage of the mother/son experience, at least once. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

My DS 15 does not like to swim in the pools anymore. But my DS 13 would spend all day there if he made a friend....
