I don't know how many of you have heard this story, but it has really bothered me.

It seems that some teenagers stole a credit card, bought a frozen turkey at a Long Island, NY supermarket, and then tossed it out the back window of the car they were riding in. It hit the road, bounced , and hit the windshield of another car, wounding the driver. She is in a coma. If it wasn't for her passenger grabbing the wheel, it might have been worse. The police have arrested 6 teenagers--4 boys and 2 girls, all aged 17 or 18.

This so sad on so many levels. :(

A prime example of not considering the consequences of one's actions.

:(

Same kind of thing happened here with kids throwing rocks off the overpass onto the interstate. The stupidity of some people amazes me. 17-18 yos should know better.

I am sad a and Mad all at the same time.....don't anyone THINK any more??:(

And it was only supposed to be FUNNY!

We did so many stupid things as teenagers, so so many and I'm thankful that nothing like this ever happened to us.

Its really sad.

Something similar (in the teens not considering the consequenses of their actions department) happened in Atlanta this week. Some teenaged girls baked a cake and served it at lunch at school. 12 kids got very sick after eating it. Tests revealed that it contained an expired prescription drug, bleach, clay, and hot pepper sauce. :earseek: The girls, aged 13, have been charged with 12 counts of aggrevated assault with intent to commit murder

The family of one of the girls released a statement to the press that the girls never meant to harm anyone - they thought it would be funny  Guess they're not laughing now :(

So sad - how could they NOT think people would get sick - and how is this funny? It takes the ex-lax brownie to a whole new level!

Last year a woman from PA was in her mini van w/ her family - she was the passenger and some kids threw stuff off the overpass. It went right through the windshield and killed her. I hope kids hear this and learn a valuable lesson.

Several years ago country singer George Strait's daughter was killed because someone there a rock or a concrete block off an overpass and it went through the windshield.:(

Hopefully they get to spend a long time in jail for this.

I repectfully disagree. This is sad and and stupid but they did not throw the turkey to intentionally hurt someone. Exactly what would spending a long time in jail accomplish except to ruin 6 young lives?

Just curious, what do you think a fair punishment would be?

They are 17 and 18 years old. They should have thought before acting. Society already has enough trash in it; time to get rid of a bit of it :D

I agree that lifetime in jail wouldn't help these kids, but they do need to be taught that their actions have consequences. I'm not sure what the proper punishment should be though.

If this person dies, then what??

If they just wanted to throw a frozen turkey, surly they could have done that on a deserted road somewhere, but no, they obviously picked a busy place so "someone" else would have to be involved in their "joke".

Same with people throwing rocks from the overpass...it's intended to "hit" a car and then the kids get some laughs seeing a bad accident. It's all fun and games until someone is killed.

I don't know if I advocate Jail time, however 17 and 18 is old enough to know basic right from wrong. They should do some kind of community service for sure. If the person dies, I may even advocate some kind of Jail time.

Let's not forget they also stole the credit card that they used to buy the turkey. And they weren't 15 or 16 years old. They were 17 and 18. The 18 year olds were old enough to vote.

Here is a link to the story. It says that the kid threw it head on at the car. Now, that seems to me that he intended to hit the car. It's just so sad.

Turkey Toss Prank

I think we have more decent 17 and 18 year old kids than we do morons like these who caused so much harm. Unfortunately these kids give all kids a bad name. Hopefully others will pay attention and think twice before doing something stupid.

I'm not sure what is fair, but I know a long jail sentence is unfair. I do think they should be punished. I even think they should probably spend some time in jail along with community service.
