DH and I and the two kids (14 yo boy and 12 yo girl) are planning a trip in Feb 2018 and will likely stay in a value for budget reasons. But it would be great if the kids didn't have to sleep in the same bed - and DH and I will be sharing the other bed. Suggestions? No cots, I know. Some suggest bringing or sending an air mattress.

What if we could swing a MOD? I hear POR has some rooms that sleep 5? Does anyone have advice about this? Thanks!

You could bring an air mattress, or have each child sleep with the same gender parent.

There are rooms at POR and CBR that sleep 5, but they go to parties of 5 first, so there isn't a guarantee you'll get one. Also, the Murphy bed in those rooms is pretty small. If your daughter is small, it might work. Otherwise, she's likely to be uncomfortable.

If you book preferred section of POR you are guaranteed alligator bayou section which has the pull down bed so they don't have to share the bed.

The pull downs at the moderates are only slightly larger than a crib mattress. Even if you go with a moderate you would be better off with an air mattress.

Well, my family growing up was me and my 2 sisters. Going back to the early 90's, we would get two rooms at Port Orleans Riverside...my parents in one room, us in the other. We were, at the time, 14, 12, and 10. We did it several more times after that going forward. Our rooms were always next to each other, but never "connecting." I'd definitely have a 12 and 14 year old share a room. We are almost at that point with our own boys.

This would be ideal but certainly not in our budget. Since we are planning to go during a busy week, I'm sure we're looking at rack rate, unfortunately.

What's the pricing difference in a Mod versus 2 rooms at a Value for your dates?

When the in-laws were coming with us we were going to do 2 rooms at All-Stars. It would have averaged $250/night for Standard Room Rack Rate if including both rooms for 9 nights worth ($1,125.94*2=$2,251.88/9=~$250 per night for 2 rooms). Of course that was 4 adults being able to split things 4 ways. For our dates the All-Star Music Suite was actually more expensive than getting 2 Standard Rooms but you could consider that as well.

I agree if only 1 room you could do you and your daughter in one bed and your husband and your son in one bed or do an air mattress for one of you. I don't know the comfort levels of your kids in sleeping in the same bed. I didn't have a brother so I wouldn't be able to give experience on that. I had a sister and while it wasn't the most fun sharing a bed period I didn't have much of an issue sharing a bed with my sister when I had to.

I have tween boy and girl and my husband and son share a bed while I share with my daughter. Not always fun as my daughter hogs the bed :rolleyes1 My friend just got back...she has twin 13 year olds--boy and girl. She rented a rollaway bed from this company. It cost less than $50 for the week and they delivered it to Pop. She said it fit just fine...hope this helps!

Not sure of the price difference between the moderates, but maybe look at the family suites at All Star Music. I believe they have 2 pull out beds as well as the regular bed in the other room.

Are your kids complaining about having to share a bed or are you worried it may be an issue once you arrive? Or do you not want them sharing a bed?

We did the Poly and BC when my kids were 15 and 9. They opted to sleep together even though we had nice sized day beds in each room. The beds are queens so it wasn't a big deal for our trip. I sometimes find them in the morning in DS's room and his bed is full size. They are now 17 and 11. They sometimes stay up late watching movies and she just crashes in his bed.

If you move to a moderate the bed will be queen so a bit bigger and maybe not so uncomfortable if they have to sleep together.

I'm curious is it the kids or the parents that have issues with siblings sharing? I had share with my older brother occasionally and he never did anything inappropriate or else, as teens we had to share beds, because we rather share with a grown siblings than with our little ones, once I share with my sister and she pee the bed! it was awful :worried:
I agree with the poster that suggests boys in one bed and girls in another if is soo important to keep teenager siblings separated, is not like mom and dad will get romantic with 2 teenagers 3 ft away:rotfl2:

Value:
- Air Mattress, can lean on wall during day
- Fold up camp cot like above
- Boys bed, Girls bed (we do this so no extra bedding to deal with or tight space)
- Kids share

Moderate:
- Book PREFERRED at POR and you will be get a Murphy Bed
- Small mattress but if 12 year old is small can work
- Other bunk rooms at CBR & POR go to families of 5 first
