Teenager ordering off Kids menu?

Can a teenager order off the Kids Menu at WDW restaurants without a problem?

Maybe they are a picky eater or whatever...

I wouldn't say "without a problem." Generally, Disney is very generous about those things, though more recently we've seen more strongly-worded notations in the menus ("for our guests under age 10 only" or something like that) and there have been occasional reports that indicate that tolerance for the practice is on the decline.

Regardless, it is appropriate when a teen or adult orders off the child menu, to tip the server based on an adult menu item price, not based on the child menu item price.

Disney's table-service restaurant chefs are incredibly accommodating when it comes to personal preferences regarding food. They'll work with you to come up with a meal that you'll enjoy, even if you're the pickiest eater.

Last week at Whispering Canyon the server was very reluctant to let my DS(10) order off the kid's menu. He said he would have to speak to the manager about it. They ended up charging $12 for the kids meal, but it was a larger serving. This all could have been because we were on the DDP.

We will not be on the DDP, but I will be using the DDE card.

That's a good idea Bicker, but it's hard to convey those intentions to your server ahead of time.

The ONLY restaurant that I have ever experienced an issue with this was at San Angel Inn at Mexico. Not only were the rude about it, but were adamant that they would not budge (I had a child older than 9 that did not want anything on the adult menu and wanted the kids quesadilla) They flat out refused to let her order it.
I have always been able to order from the kids menus at other restaurants (other than buffets which is a given )

Have you been on the dining plan when you did that?

There's no way my 10 year old will want to eat off the adult menu at any of the restaurants. We were hoping to pay for hers out of pocket and saving her credits for signature dining and buffets. I wouldn't balk at paying extra for her meal. Did they ask you to pay extra for the kids meals?

My DD14 (was 13 at the time) ordered of the adults menu everywhere but at Cinderella's Royal Table. She really just wanted chicken fingers. We asked and the waitress said she would bring an "adult portion" of the kids meal. She did get more but we paid $18 for it!!
I think if they refused to work with me and what my child wanted we would just get up and leave. No restaurant is worth that aggravation. My son is 11 this year and ALL he eats at WDW is mac and cheese!! I'm not ordering an adult meal for him to waste. Although, I have to say a larger portion of mac and cheese would be good.

I agree that, as long as it isn't about the cost, that a full-service restaurant that refuses to work with you doesn't deserve your patronage.
