My son, 15-year old, is going on a school led band trip in April. It's 5 days staying offsite and breakfast is included. He gets $15 cash each day for one meal, but the other meal is on his own.

I was planning on sending him with some cash which he could put in his wallet and getting him a prepaid/rechargeable visa that he could keep separate in his phone case (it has slots for a few cards).

I'm just looking for what others have done when sending their kids by themselves to Disney

If they will be eating that third meal onsite, I would give my DD $200-$250 for dinner, snacks, souvenirs, etc. I would tell her I wanted change. She would spend much less by eating kids meals, keep the bills, and bring me the coins. :) You could always add more to the Visa if he needed you to.

By that age my kids had their own bank accounts with debit cards so that's what we used. We also used the prepaid American Express card for teens. You could also use wdw gift cards. If you buy them at Target you you can get 5% back using your red card.

I would think 150 to 200 would be good. That would allow for extra drinks and such at the parks, plus plenty for each meal.
