Just wondering if anyone can share any helpful hints with me. There is no way I can get ds 16 into a clothes store. No less when to find the time to take him - school all week, work on saturday all day and then activities on sunday and homework. No less our trip is in 36 days and he needs some clothes. Mostly shorts. He just topped out at 6 foot. I bought him a pair of shorts at walmart yest and they are too short so next ds tried them on and took them. Its frustrating to run back and forth to the stores, returning etc. He wont even go try on sneakers. Ugghh. Help!!

My teenage son hates to shop also. I used to let him pick things out of the Lands End catalog and then ordered for him to try on at home. Now I usually can bribe him with food to go to Kohls.

You must be going to be in WDW the same time as us. We are staying at ASMovies. What about you?

I just had this argument with my 13 year old this morning. If someone offered to buy me clothes, I'd be out the door. I'm tired of buying stuff and either having to return it or finding it in his drawer with tags still on four months later. He moans because all his clothes are from Old Navy but thats where I like to shop and I know what sizes to get.

So this is it. If he wants clothes, he'll have to make the time to come with me. I'm tired of fighting and if he's happy with what he has, I'll spend the money on me instead. :)

Same story with DS10!

I order online or pick things up that I think will work. Once in a blue moon I'll be able to drag him into a store... but I usually have to dangle a trip to Gamestop or a fast food run along with it.

we are staying at the swan again as we have 3 ds. we tried for poly or contemp but they told us there were no gardenview rooms etc. We gave them every code that was good. THey offered us stuff not in our budget. I see they do have rooms on their web site. Oh well. With the money we saved on the room we are using that for food.

Also more on the clothes, little ds (3rd in line) says, all I get is leftovers, cant I have something new? He actually will go shopping with me because he knows he will not get the leftovers, but forget the 16 yo , his sneakers even have holes and he refuses to go. I told him I just cannot guess that size. Middle ds will generally take what I get and that always turns out to be something oldest ds does not want. So it still ends up that oldest ds has no clothes. Sometimes he will even take DH casual shirts. DH has a fit when he sees it on him. This is driving me nuts. Even worse is the bathing suits because alot of styles are like board shorts and they have an exact waist size and not like large, x large etc. Help, Help.

My youngest DS, almost 20, has always made me crazy about shopping. I will occasionally pick up a shirt or two for him but that's about it. I've told him if he sees something he likes when he is out with his DGF to let me know or I make DH take him. Of course then they usually come back with nothing!!

I always told my son one hour of shopping gets you choice of your lunch out afterwards.

Worked pretty well.

herc.,

I just took DS9 shopping for 3 hours and we came home empty handed. I told my husband I would rather have my teeth pulled out than go shopping with my DS.

I wish I had your problem! DS is a clothes horse. He takes forever to get dressed - everything has to be perfect!

Thank goodness he is out on his own and works for a clothing store.

That promise of "lunch of your choice" sounds like a winner!

My younger son is just like that. His older brother on the other hand was and is a clothes horse. It works out well because ds#2 takes all of ds #1's cast offs. Between the two of them they have 4 times the amount of clothes I have. I know this because they only bring their laundry here once a month. I need to do mine once a week. ;)

I think when your son gets to the point where he really has no clothes to wear, he'll go shopping. I'd wait him out and totally ignore the situation. ;)

Actually my 2 oldest--16 and 13--like to go shopping for clothes. Only because they like very particular items. But I do buy them things if Im out shopping and see something I know they would like. Now for my oldest, who wears a size 14 shoe, he usually needs to be with me shoe shopping. Ds #2 in 11 but still growing, lol.

My Ds is only 7 but I have the same problem, just not as bad. he likes the "idea" of shopping because he likes getting new things but he hates trying clothes on. I do most of the clothes shopping for DS at Old Navy and Kid's Footlocker. He will actually go to Footlocker because he is into sports and knows he will be getting a jersey or sneakers which he loves. I usually go to Old Navy alone and just pick up t-shirts, sweaters, button down shirts and jeans in his size, if it doesn't fit I would bring it back but everything always fits.

Maybe catalog shopping or online shopping might work for your DS, he doesn't have to actually leave the house and almost every store has a website now. For sneakers I sometimes use www.finishline.com and for clothes www.oldnavy.com and www.footlocker.com. They have sizing charts and etc to help you. On a sidenote: my DH is over 6 feet tall and we find that regular sizes for shorts & shirts are often too short, in certain brands we have to get "TALL" for him for the length.

I have a DS, now 15, who really hates to shop. He definitely will not shop with me! So I give him a few hundred dollars to more and drop him off at the mall. He usually takes a friend and they shop that way. That is the only way I can get him to buy any new clothes.

Geez-both of mine are total clothes horses-and pickier than any teenage girl...I would much rather shop with DS's GF because she is easier to please. And one of them wears size 16 shoes-just finding something for him to try on can take all day.

My DS is 18-and a true clothes horse!
all of his wardrobe comes from 3 places;
Kohl's, Marshall's and PacSun-he actually likes
shopping in these stores!~
AND right now is probably best for jeans and shorts-
Jeans are on the clearance racks and
it's still early enough in the season
to get the summer clothes on promo.

Aren't kids wonderful!?

I have two DS's 16 and 13, and don't really like to shop for clothes, but they do like clothes. They are typical male shoppers... they go in, find what they want, and are ready to leave. They do not like to look/shop around, unlike their mother

My boys like PacSun and sometimes Kohls. They are very picky about what they like to wear. Every time I think I have their styles figured out.... well, NOT!

Now DD, 20, was and still is a clothes horse. She loves to shop! OTOH DS, 15 loves clothes but hates to shop for them. He would love to be able to call up Macys and have them bring a wardrobe for him to try on in the comfort of his home! LOL! He buys his clothes from Macy's, Hechts, and some strange places in the mall.
