Hey! Im new to the forums, My name is Alicia![ali for short]
Anyways..

About the teen hangout thing, Im 14 years old and my cousin is 12. She really wants to come along with me to the teen hangout place. She will be 13 in about 2 month, do you think disney will let her in??

Hi Ali, we are going on our first Disney cruise next week, so I really can't answer your question. From what I've read, I think they are pretty strict on the ages for the teens. When do you go on your cruise?

Ali, my daughter Amy is 15 and she'll be on the cruise. She'd love to talk to you so pm me with your sn & e-mail and Amy will contact you. She's trying to get some teens together for the trip.

Ali, I don't know definitely about whether they will or won't OK it for your cousin to hang with you but my DD who's a CM in the Oceaneer's Club says ALWAYS talk to the CMs. So I would suggest that you have your folks and your cousin's folks talk to the CMs in the Stack during the "open house" that's shown in your Navigator.

Absolutely can't hurt to ask. Have a MAGICal time whatever happens.

on the 2005 repo cruise we'll have a 12 year old in our group (49 days from her 13th birthday) - her mom is going to ask if her daughter can "bump up" to the teen club....

Yeah i mean... i hope they let her, shes only like 2months until shes 13

Hi Ali, i've asked DCL about this and they say to speak to the people at the club on the day of registration, it's normally fine but once you change group either up or down you can't go into the other one, so you could go into oceaneers by bumping down to be with your cousin but if you didn't enjoy it couldn't go to the stack and the other way round, have a great cruise.

Ali,
Cm_mom's DD personally PM'd me about a kid's club questions. The statement that still sticks in my mind from her is that the" CM's are there to help you have a "magical" time not ruin your cruse." With that in mind I say don't sweat it they'll probably let your cousin in. Just remember what she said and know that they'll do their best to help you have lots of happy memories.

I know that DCL's position is that if a person is within one month of turning 13 than they can be moved into the teen group. We sailed for the first time last August and my DD was only three weeks away from turning 13, so she was permitted to join the teen group. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask about your cousin, but don't be too disappointed if she can't join you.

My neighbors went this past April (three months ago) on the Wonder, their daughter was 12 and would turn 13 in June (2 months difference). DCL allowed her to join her brother (who is 15) in the Teen Area instead of going to the 10-12 group.

So her situation sounds exactly the same as your cousins. They did go there the first day and arrange this; so don't wait for the second day.

Good Luck! Have a great cruise!
DJ

Well.. im still a little nervous. They didn't let go on the wild side excursion so i hope they let her in.princess:

Hi Ali,
Both my daughters are going on the same trip, July 10th. My youngest (Jennine) is 11 and my oldest (Katie) is 16. We'll be located on the 6th deck.

From what I am reading on other boards, their will be plenty of kids going and everyone should be having a great time....

See ya on board.

From what a DCL rep told me the last time we cruised, if you are within a couple of weeks of your birthday, you might be able to move into the next age bracket. The best thing is to just try talking to the counseler in the teen club on the day you board -- when they have open house -- and just explain the situation. They are very nice. Good luck and have a great trip....

The policy is that you must be within 30 days of the birthday that would allow you to be in the higher group to move up....and even then, they won't promise to move someone up till they are on board and meet the counsellors.

We cruised for my DD's 13th birthday. Even though she was turning 13 during the cruise, they wouldn't promise ahead of time that she could be in the teen area. However, they did over-ride the computer and allow us to book the Wild Side excursion since she was 13 by Castaway Cay day. Then, when we boarded, mom and daughter had to go to The Stack to meet the staff and get it officially approved that she could be there.

I've heard tales of people being allowed in at 2 months out to be with a family member, but I can't say for sure that it has happened or not. I do know for sure what the written policy is--30 days from birthday AND approval of counsellor.

I was wondering if my DD 19 could hang out with her younger sister, 14 in the teen club?

(not that she would want to, but .....just in case....)

Lisa

Ali-

Hey im 15 and i will be cruisin the same time as u guys. If worst comes to worst and they dont let her in, theres no need to worry because its not like u are obligated to stay in the teen group, im sure you will have plenty of family time to be with her and im sure you'll have a great time no matter what!

See ya on board!!:sunny:
