Teen Club Question

First time cruise for us. We'll be on the November 11 Wonder.

I have 2 DD's, one 11 and one 13. They are both pretty psyched about their respective clubs. From reading these boards, I have gathered that it is pretty important for my 13 year old to be at the teen club on the first night, for some kind of an orientation meeting & introductions. My question is, given that we have late seating, will that orientation meeting conflict with dinner? What time does this meeting usually happen?

It was at 10:30pm on our August 28th, 2004 Magic cruise. I'm sure it would be about the same time on the Wonder. They pick a time that would allow all the teens to be there at the same time. We had late dining and our teens had plenty of time to get there. Have a great cruise!!

I also have dd 17 and ds 13

They are looking forward to cruise - but I'm not sure they believe that the teen clubs will be any better than when we went to Beaches in Jamaica (great sun, water - but only really little kids - 4-7 - seem to enjoy the scheduled activities - and the teen dances well they were basically vacant)

Any insight I could give them - so they leave dh and I alone for a few

Our DD was 13 last cruise and she loved the teen club. She will be 16 on our next cruise and is really looking forward to it. They have a variety of activities for the teens. Hope your kids have fun.

My expereince with the teen club was in 2002 with my, then, 13DD. She went the first day for the meet and greet. Whenever she was really bored, she popped in there for a little while, but I found she was hanging around me a lot more than I expected (not a bad thing).

She got involved in one of their games, but was tagged "out" early, and that may have had some bearing on it.

I have a shy DS who is 14 and a DD who is 11. We went on the 3 day wonder 2 years ago. My DD did great with the kids program. My DS was only went some of the time. My question to you is during the meet and greet.........did you stick around or did your teen stay by themself? What kinds of things do they do? Tina

No parents are allowed in the teen club after a certain time on the day of embarkation (maybe 7pm??? not exactly sure on the time).

After that it is teens only, so you cannot attend the welcome aboard party with your teen.

My daughter has been on 4 Disney Cruises and has loved the experience every time. Sometimes they make friends and hang out in the teen room, but sometimes they just meet people on the first night that they connect with and spend time with them on the rest of the cruise, not necessarily on the scheduled teen events.

We were not allowed to stay with my DD after the visit. The place looked interesting and she wanted to go. She then went to the meet and greet. I had to get a message to her and popped my head in later in teh evening and was duly admonished for "tresspassing" into teenville!

My original requirements for my daughter was that she knew we had dinner at 6 and I expected her to show up for dinner. Other than that, I told her she could do what she wanted. Turns out (much to our surprise) that a lot of what she wanted was with us!

You can call the Stack and ask to speak with your child, or just give them a message to meet you somewhere.

We did that twice and it worked out well.
