So I'm heading out tomorrow for Disney and the Teddy Bear and Doll Event. They have some really great bears/dolls this year (and I LOVE the Steiff Mickey Mouse holding the Disney Bear!) Like I need anymore dolls or bears, but I guess I'll be adding more to my collection anyway.

I can't believe this is my 11th year attending the event!!!
WOO HOO--Disney here I come again.

I forgot about this event. I was going to go to public day, but I ended up working. I only collect Barbie, and I don't think Mattel did one this year? Let us know how it went, Sue Ellen!

It was a much smaller event this year than in year's past, but it was wonderful.
The Steiff Mickey was fantastic (he was holding a small disney bear) and it sold well.
There were amazing dolls there (very realistic looking) and cute bears.
I hope they make some changes next year and make it bigger and better.
They had 3 pins this year--the gift with purchase pin, the limited edition purchase logo pin (LE 1000) and they had a Steiff Mickey pin as well--that was event exculsive. They said any of the pins that were not given out over the weekend with the purchase of the Steiff would be destroyed--the pin is not supposed to be given out to any bears purchased after the weekend is over.

I thought about you as I walked by World Showplace on that Friday. The design is cute this year. I did see the Steiff bear in the Germany Pavilion. It looked wonderful... the price tag

Glad you had a great time

Debbie

Debbie I thought of you while I was there (since you are usually around for public day.)

I didn't see many of the people I have in the past, but still a lot of familiar faces. This was the first year in a long time I didn't pick up bears/dolls for anyone.

I just wanted to add that I purchased the Steiff Mickey and bear on Tuesday after the event at the Germany pavillion. They did give me the pin that was issued for the Teddy Bear and Doll Weekend. I love that darn Mickey and bear! It's just precious!

Which pin did you get--the gift with purchase logo pin, or the steiff pin (the one with the dangle?) I'm definitely interested to know this as I was told that they werre not going to give out the steiff pin after the event.

He's a cute mickey and bear isn't he?

Sorry for the delay. I got the pin with the dangle. It's such a precious Mickey and bear!!!

The Mickey Steiff Bear is now available to order online according to the Disney Gallery site.

Disney Gallery

No mention of the pin with it.

They must have had a FEW of these left over.

I love the Disney Bear and I have collected various items of him besides the bears themselves of which I have light brown, dark brown and white. I never got the pink or purple or yellow bears........never "did" anything for me. :rotfl:

I also have key chains, magnets (of the real bears), smaller versions of the bears and Christmas stockings.

Too bad the Mickey Steiff is so big and so expensive. With the Disney Bear being so little....... I don't need it. :rolleyes1

Congrats to those who got one.

Kathie, that Mickey is only about 12 inches high (roughly) and the Disney Bear is about 5 inches high.
I love it (and yes, I think it is a bit expensive) but they did a GREAT job with the Mickey and the bear.

Interesting about the pin. When I was told that they would not give the dangle pin after the weekend I asked what they would then do with the ones not given out. I was told they would be "destroyed" to maintain the collectibility of the pin. Somehow I doubted that would happen though.

Thanks Sue Ellen The Gallery state sit is 37cm which is nearly 15" tall. Being a Steiff I would want it behind glass. Unfortunately I am running out of display room. Too much stuff. :teeth:

I bet it's wonderful.

Disneyana Convention attendees heard that for years. I found a supposedly destroyed 1998 Disneyana piece at the Italian Pavillion in Epcot when I was there in May. I find it amazing that those pieces keep "turn up."

I got last years Steiff Disney Bear at the event last year. I then have seen them in Germany, and they still continued to give the pin with purchase. I would have loved to buy this years piece, but having a Pooh piece from Mr. Wright was priority for me. It is just priceless, I love his work. I also bought Herman's Anniversary Pooh piece, such an adorable face. I also got the cute set of bears dressed in Disney outfits and the boy bear was holding Pooh. SO cute and afordable. Also got the LE 100 Cinderella doll from Precious Moments. Got it signed by President of PM and designer. Hope to get it signed by Sam Butcher when I go to PM Event for my birthday in spetember. I went last year and just has the best time!!

Blessings
Winnie
