TED Airlines (owned by United)

I am curious too as I noticed from Chicago to MCO is listed as "USAirways as flown by TED for United" USAirways is the worst airline I have ever flown on, so want no part of it, but is it United using USAir airplanes, or vice/versa...or has UAL taken over USAIR'S territory to MCO...I also read somewhere that if you fly TED from Chicago to MCO it does not acrue FF miles...not too sure what I think of it all.

I am here in Chicago now having flown in from MCO. Ted was ok. I am a USAirways preferred member and am getting their miles even though I flew Ted.

I fly back tomorrow. I am a big fan of USAirways front line personnel. I don't think you can find finer people with a few exceptions.

We flew TED out of Dulles to MCO and have 2 more trips booked with them. We flew the same flights as if I booked through United. We didn't have any problems. The flight attendents were great on from MCO to IAD.

Flew Ted for 3 out of 4 legs of a r/t Burbank to MCO in March. Flights were fine, service was fine...nothing special, nothing wrong. The "tone" was a little edgy and I found some of their Tedvision (in flight entertainment on overhead screens) to be highly inappropriate for my 9 and 6 y.o.'s (especially an episode of Scrubs that was visually and verbally very graphic about sexual function), so I would probably avoid flying Ted again with my kids for quite a while.

It's what they call a code share flight. USAirways doesn't fly that route, so they book you on a TED/United flight to keep you as a customer. You're really flying on TED, you check-in with them and it's TED planes with TED flight attendants and pilots. You can still earn miles on USAirways if you want to, or earn United miles if you'd rather.

To keep it simple, you could also book that same flight as a TED flight. It might even be cheaper, as USAirways may mark up the flight to make more money. It also makes it easier to remember what airline you're on.
