My daughter's home assignment was a power point project. She has to turn send it to school but it's too big.

She's split it up and it's still too big.

Any suggestions?

How many slides? Can she zip it up and send a zip file?

What is a zip file?

15 slides

Does the presentation have a lot of graphics/clip art/animation? If so, she may have to cut some so she can send it.

You can either download a shareware program called Win-zip or use the compressed folder feature of windows to compress the presentation file. They can then un-zip it on the other end after you send it. The Windows compressed folder feature can unzip Win-zip files and vice-versa.

If it has pictures on the slides they are usually too big to save on a floppy. Can you burn it to a CD or use a Flash Drive (plugs in USB port). If she is trying to email it, do you have a different email account that will let you send big attachments?

I know this may sound not too bright, but where would I find this compression file on my computer? I don't recall seeing it.

If she can access the internet at school, use a yahoo or hotmail account and send it to herself there and then access at school. I would first recommend the CD or flash drive route.

Go to the presentation file in Windows explorer and right click on it (I assume you have Windows XP). When you right click select "Send To" and then select "Compressed Folder". You will then save a copy of your file in a compressed folder that might be small enough to e-mail.

Well, I'm not sure what's going on, but they just left to get a cd to see if they can save it to that.
She said something about school not being able to get it once it's been compressed. :confused3

My oldest seems to think she can get the cd burner to work. It's worth a try if nothing else.

Hey, how come you didn't ask me?

;)
Good luck to your DD...I know how frustrating this kind of thing can be.

Sow how'd it work out?
