I downloaded IE 7 today (upgrade from IE 6.0) and now tonight every time I hit backspace I get put back to the sign in page! It was VERY frustrating trying to chat and trade with Little Belle. :badpc: (TY for your patience LB! :goodvibes )

Anyone have a clue what would cause this and if there's anything short of removing the IE 7, if it's possible? What if I remove the 7 and the 6.0 isn't there anymore? Will I be able to connect to the internet?

TIA

It is a known bug in IE7 . It was so frustrating for me i switched to firefox

I have had absolutly no problem with using IE 7. I have been using it since it was in Beta still. That back space out has been around even with 6 i used to back out while playing masion all the time. It now rarely happens but I am not sure the specific cause. Has to do with typing followed by using back space, LOL but you knew that all ready. I would not scrap IE 7 I love it

I agree i would not scrap IE7 since i have had it since beta but i just like firefox better for playing VMK

That's interesting..when I use Firefox the text is always all messed up and I can't type anything..weird..I won't be upgrading to IE 7 anytime soon! :p

I had the problem too but one day, my computer did not responded anymore and instead of trying to solve the problem I just bought a new partition and reinstalled everything and I was happy to have finally IE6 because I was rid of that bug but now I have another bug like I want to type and sometimes in VMK, I can not type spaces in my sentences :|

Maybe you can try to use VMKPAL instead

Normally, If you manage to remove the ie7 you will still have the ie6 but good luck for removing it .. I never managed to do it ..

Peasy I don't have firefox and I get this bug about 35% of the time! It's very irritating because if I make a mistake I usually have to delete the whole line and start over since it doesn't let you see all letters and it's hard to guess how far to back up, then everything starts blinking red, lol! :badpc: It happens on both vmk pal and without it.

Kasiks I don't remember if I had vmk pal on last night when it was happening, I don't believe so...have to try it today using Pal. I think it was you who said it slowed down your fireworks scoring so I've been switching back and forth now. Don't think I score any different in fireworks.

I'm curious to know what's so great about IE 7 over the 6.0 that would make you put up with that bad of a bug?
At first I thought it was because I allowed the phishing filter to be turned on, but after I turned it off it still did it, maybe not as often, or I wasn't typing as much to notice.

Thanks for all the input everyone!

Never, EVER try to use anything Microsoft puts out until it's been out about six months. 27 years of IT experience talking here. Microsoft is notorius for putting out software that is terribly buggy. Be prepared for major updates on a daily basis.

At work I am responsible for maintaining microsoft patches on classified machines. I receive 2 or 3 a WEEK for IE6! That's been out forever and they still have holes you could drive a truck through.

Back it out, go back to IE6 and give it until the spring.

I have IE7 but don't use it for VMK. IE7 has a few bugs in it so get out good ol' Firefox for now.

I get random reloads when I play on IE7. So I just don't use it.

Tested today and I don't have the problem with vmk Pal, so for now I'll stick with that and decide whether to get rid of the IE 7

My problem is with vmk. My trade window has not been working all day. I can open a window and start the trade but it won't complete and I can't cancel it on my main name. When trading with a mule the window for the mule will close but the one on my main name will not. I have to completely close down vmk and log back in. Today is the first day it has ever done that.
:confused3 :badpc:

My experience with Internet Explorer 7 changed completely last night when I updated to what they are call IE 7 Release Candidate 1, (or RC1). Previously I was operating on a much earlier Beta version like 7.0.02*** it is no 7.0.057***

Anyway, I can now recomend to my VMK friends - DO NOT DOWNLOAD - release candidate 1 at this time. Indead any time you backspace (and I do mean everytime) you will leave the park. It gets frustrating after the second time typing the same note to a friend. I only downloaded the newer version because I was updating my Kodak software and it was not tuned to the version I had so it took me to update MS. I now wish I had not had a free moment.

Thought I would give you an update and let you know - Yes it is a problem!

This issue is actually caused by..... wait for it.... wait.... Firefox being on your PC when you installed IE7 - from here on out, no matter what you do, backspace in IE will always go back a page. There is one fix and one fix only - format and reinstall Windows.

I have never had firefox on this computer, Microsoft has instructions on removing IE 7 RC1 at their support page, I am going to remove it and go back to beta 1 if I can find it. (I know I saved it, I know I did....plz plz pzl)

It appears to me it is a conflict with the flash player. It only does it in VMK, seems it is not recognizing backspace as a typing fuction but rather as a web browsing function. Here at Dis I can hit backspace all day.

It actually happens on IE 6 as well, I just tried actually- but not when I'm interacting with the page. Odd..

I wont get too technical, but it is a codepage issue. Leftover from the original Mozilla browser (before the Netscape Browser) which hijacked the original IE browser codepage, for whatever reason, it does it again.

If memory serves me correct you can uninstall IE7 and re-install IE6. I'm not sure if your computer will like that though...

If you Google "Mozilla Firefox" it will take to directly to the webpage.

I think it works tons better than IE7 (It's sad i remember that and I'm on a mac now.)

But if you don't want to risk of messing up the computer then downloading Firefox would probably be the most computer smart thing to do.

You can also ask ElectricLime, he's pretty computer literate. And he gives really good advice!

Hope this helps!

I have had this problem ever since July when they added the beach & lagoon stuff.

I believe the problem is with having too much stuff in your inventory. When my kid logs on she does not have a problem trading at all. And my other characters work just fine.

I thought it was my computer, so I tried to do a trade when I was at VMK central in WDW, and I had the same problem.

We really need closets for our clothes and an album for our pins.

Poor little Fly has too many pins! :rotfl: :lmao:

Good job troubleshooting this! It definitely sounds like a VMK bug! Report it to the black hole just like you said it here - it might also be a problem with their database, and they'll be glad you notified 'em!

Aw, shucks! Thanks for the compliment!

Caribbound: you're apparently running into a bug in IE 7 Beta. The best solution for you right now would be to use Firefox ('http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/') to play VMK.

I agree with DaraAllen: don't use any Microsoft software until it's been out there for a while. And, in this particular case, don't upgrade to the beta version of IE 7 unless you have a specific need for one of its new features.
