we went to WDW last week our first day there we got stuck at the top of Spaceship Earth. We were stuck in our car for a good 15 minutes-my DD 7 was terrified and ended up having an "accident". The CM's finally came to let us off and we had to walk down 18 flights of stairs. The next day we went to MK and got stuck on Tomorrowland Transit Authority in the middle of Space MOuntain! We were stuck there for about 10 minutes. The ride finally started moving only to get stuck again a few minutes later. About 10 minutes later we were asssited out of cars and had to walk out and down out of that ride also. the CM's at least gave us a ticket to use on any ride for no wait. The same day we saw Splash Mountain stuck. We spent the next 2 days trying to convince my DD's (both 7) we wouldn't get stuck again. any one else have any problems?

I had one trip when I got stuck on Splash Mountain three times on three different day--once for 10 minutes, once for 20 minutes, and once for 30 minutes!

On another trip, I got stuck on Test Track for about 15 minutes, and had to walk off it.

And another trip, we got stuck on Winnie the Pooh, and had to walk off it.

Your poor DD, she must have been petrified-I'm afraid it does seem to be a regular problem with SE-several years ago I went with my family and we got stuck-my DSis will not go on now and shes a grown woman with kids of her own. :sad2: I think every time I've been on it we've been stuck at least once-although never to the extent of having to walk off it-although I bet it was interesting to walk through it (Sorry, trying to put a positive spin on it)

I would have kicked up a bit of a stink and seen if they gave you a fastpass for anything-you never know, especially with it being a small child whos traumatised.

I got stuck on Spaceship Earth once, about seven years ago. I thought it was great, except for being next to the morse code area. It was grating.

Other than that, though, it was fun to walk and see back areas.

The first time I took my DH on SE it stopped at the top when you go backwards. We had to look at the fiber optic lights going and it got a little annoying. Of course this was right after my DH realized we were actually at the TOP of the Epcot ball!!! So of course he will never do that ride again - I like the ride since it brings back memories of the early days!!

Last December we got stuck in Spaceship Earth also. Our car just turned to start decending. So we were in the dark laying on our backs. After 10 minutes my youngest started gatting scared. But them we started moving again.

I guess it happens, look how many people travel through the rides in one given day. We just made the best of it.

I think there has been more breakdowns since all the hurricanes that went through there. I am sure 100mph winds will do some damage on the wiring and systems that run the rides.

Last august I went on haunted mansion with my 2 preschoolers, I guess my childhood memories were rose shaded, I remembered the ride as fun, but they were scared, and then of course in the darkest part of the ride the ride stops!!! and here is one son crying to get off in the dark in the haunted mansion- now if I ever want to go again I will have to have someone to watch my kids while I go on- they want nothing more to do with it!

True some times the ride does breakdown but if it around 10 minutes they are probaly transferring someone from a wheelchair, we have to do that with my brother and it does hold everyone up for a while.

In Sept 04, I had an extra day because of Hurricane Jeanne, so went to Epcot to ride my fav ride there, Test Track. On the first trip, the car felt funny the whole ride, like thru the braking, just a diff feel. So when we were on the final long stretch outside before the big turn, the car, I swear it felt like it was speeding up faster than it normally does, plus it started shaking, and the speed timer above showed like 67mph, and I have never seen it more than 64, but then we hit the turn, and right at the top of the curve, we dead stop. The one lady was panicking cause she thought the cars behind us would hit her, and me and her husband had to assure her that when one car stops, they ALL stop. So I think we sat there maybe 5 mins, when finally a CM comes by. It was OUR car that cause the problem. Told you it felt funny. Anyways he reset it and we finished.

What did I do?

Went on it 2 more times! of Course!! :rotfl2:

This past Nov. we actually got stuck on ToT! THAT was nerve racking, to say the least. The lights came on and we all sat there for a good fifteen minutes basically thinking we were just going to drop any minute! Then a voice came over the speaker system and told us that we were on track again, and that we would be experiencing the "full drop". They weren't kidding! When we got off, they gave the option to walk right on again- and every single one of us did!

We were there last week. Didn't get stuck on any rides, but while we were in line at Test Track, BTMRR, and Splash they broke down. In all cases Cast Members told us to leave the line because it would be a while before the rides would reopen. All they would telll us was that the rides were experiencing "technical difficulties."

However, I would say that the rides at Disney do take a pounding. Especially this time of year. To be quite hones, I'm surprised the rides don't break down more often than they do. With EMH in full swing the rides are going, in some cases 18 hours a day. I give Disney Kudos for keeping that kind of schedule!

We've had Spaceship Earth stop before ... and we saw the CM walking through it to check the laser beam lights ... said sometimes if something is blocking the light, the ride stops. Anyway, we experienced three rides in one day which all stopped due to tech. difficulties ... Haunted Mansion ... Tomorrowland Transit (and we had to get off), and Splash. It is a little scary when it happens, and we've had trouble talking our kids into getting on a few that we've had trouble with. I am not sure we'll get our youngest in the mansion again ... last time we got stopped for a LONG time right in front of howling ghosts!!

WIth Spaceship earth and the interlocking cars, I would imagine a great deal of the stopages are to aid in loading people in wheelchairs. Since the cars aren't free riding, they all need to stop for a bit.

Last year, I went on Spaceship Earth and since no one was in line (except me), I just hopped on the ride and took off. It was then that I realized not a living sole was anywhere near me. It truly gave me the creeps! :goodvibes

I kept praying, "Oh Lord, please don't let this stop or I will have a heart attack"! And here I am, a grown woman who should no better that they were all animatronics but it was still creepy to get on there -- I just felt like they were all staring at me. Isn't that the silliest thing! :lmao:

And no, thank you Dear Lord, the ride never stopped. It was only during the place where the cars turn to see the big bright Earth that I saw two other humans many cars back. Whew! :Pinkbounc

We got stuck on Spaceship Earth on March 25 (and we didn't get any ride passes). I actually enjoyed walking down because I got some pictures for my scrapbook that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten. We also couldn't ride Ellen's Energy Adventure that day because it had technical difficulties. Later that week, we got stuck (very briefly) on Snow White, and we almost didn't get to ride Big Thunder because of technical difficulties (we missed Jungle Cruise because we had to wait at Big Thunder). We've been the WDW many times and this was the most "technical difficulties" we've encountered. We were stuck on Splash Mountain for 30 minutes once a couple years ago, but that was the only other problem we've ever had.

Two years ago I got stuck on POTC for 40 minutes! We were right underneath the bridge with the sailor who's been drinking and his hairy leg is hanging off the side of the bridge. All the audio went down, too, EXCEPT for that one pirate, so for fourty minutes my friend and I were cracking up at his drunken ramblings. Finally, two CMs came and had to pull our boat, along with the three or four behind us, about 40 feet backwards to a ledge with an emergency exit, and one by one had to pull us out of the boats and had us walk to the exit. Once outside of the building we had to walk 1/4 mile back to get 'onstage' and got to see a pretty good portion of the backstage area - including a few CMs walking around getting ready for the parade - some of them with only their character bottoms (no heads!) on. It was really interesting. Then right before we were about to step back onstage they handed us all 'No Strings Attached' passes so we could head to the front of the line on any ride we wanted to.

We were there in February, and just kept having bad luck with Space Mountain. Fortunately we were never on the ride, but it was almost worse getting stuck in that narrow little hallway. It was cold outside, but got HOT in there with all of us crammed in with our coats on and no way out and very few air vents. Happened twice, two different days. The CM's were very nice, though, and wound up giving everyone near us two or three FP's each to ride anything at MK!! :woohoo:

My DH and I did jump on Pirates one last time during EMH in April 05. It was getting close to midnight and there was no one anywhere around. Out of the blue, though, one other guy showed up, and sat in the same boat as us, directly behind us. We couldn't see another soul on any of the boats in front of us, and we just knew this guy was directly behind us. I'm sure it was totally innocent and I know Disney has cameras everywhere, but DH and I were very creeped out. Bad people can be anywhere. . . .
