Help! I know we have a lot of people out there with technical expertise, so I am counting on you...

I just purchased a new laptop with an 17' screen. VMK is now tiny! How can I make it bigger? (Please do not suggest F11 - VMK remains the same tiny size and the rest of the screen is black). I have changed the resolution and that did make it somewhat bigger, but it is kind of fuzzy. Is there any way to make it full screen (please do not suggest F11!). Thanks for any help you can offer. I am stumped.

Lucky, you have a labtop. -.-

I am not sure exactly, since you have tryed changing the size of the screen, but I found that this link worked on my computer, to make VMK bigger..

https://secure.disney.go.com/vmk/en_US/index?name=LoginPage&bhcp=1

There you can make it full screen and what not, then you can also hit F11 there to make it bigger.

If it doesn't work, I am sorry, just post back saying so, and I will try to help you more. xD

:earsboy:

ok the only way i know is the f11 thing but i must say when i mae mine full screen on my monitor vmk takes about half the screen and the rest is black it does not make it full screen at all so if there is a way to make vmk go from screen edge to screen edge with no black i want to know as well . :)

Thanks, but that didn't work. It opens in the top left corner, and the rest of the screen is black. It's about the size of a napkin! It is very frustrating, but thanks for your help. I'll probably have to settle for big and fuzzy. Plus, it is a pain to change the resolution every time I want to play. Sigh.

My brother just told me VMK will not let you make it full screen anymore, however mine sorta works.

I am sorry it didn't work.

my best guess is that your resolution is so high and thats why it appears so small to you im running at 1024 by 768 on a 19 inch desk top monitor ( flat screen as well) and mine is like i said actually about 3/4 the size of the total screen . srry i could not help better

DavieDude, if I may ask, are you a fire fighter by any chance?

-randomness-

Sorry xD

My mom use to be one.

-ish really random today-

yes change your screen resloution.

1024 X 768 should do the trick for you.

That's one heck of a big laptop !! Was it made for King Kong ??

(sorry - just couldn't resist ;) )

And as far as I know, changing the screen resolution is all you can do. ::yes::

Nope not a firefighter just pretend to be one LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl: JK and i was going to say the same thing about the size but did not find it appropriate at the time good call on that one

I have a gateway 17"- wide screen and this is the same - oddly the full screen is smaller than the regular window I get with a full size 17" moniitor. The problem appears to be the wide screen, and I must say If you solve this problem please post it or PM me. We have to "fight" over the other computer because it is harder to see and operate with the Lap top. -----it is only VMK yes

Is it only the vmk window that appears to be small or have you noticed other sites seem smaller?

If so, before starting up Vmk go to your internet explorer. Click on View at the very top, chose text size and make sure it's on Normal. Sometimes that will make some websites appear smaller than usual.

Hope that helps, if not I'm out of ideas. You can also try a different browser like Mozilla and see it's your laptop or the browser causing the problem.

Thanks for all the great posts! I ended up just changing the resolution and dealing with huge and fuzzy so I can play the game! It seems silly to have a screen this big if everything is going to be displayed super small! The speed rocks and I have won three fireworks pins this week with my mules, so I can manage with the fuzzy look of it.

Thanks for the assistance!

Just saw this thread, and what you came up with IS the best solution. Some comments:

- "huge and fuzzy" problems tends to be more of a problem with LCD (liquid crystal display) screens (most of the modern flat-screens), becauses the LCD pixels are "predetermined" by the screen itself. That being said, most LCD screens have particular "native" resolutions that give the sharpest looking results -- picking one of these resolutions will give the best results

- if you have a traditional CRT (cathode ray tube) screen, the big, deep, and heavy screens, I *believe* that screen resolution choice is more flexible, without degrading picture quality

So, if you are using a LCD flat-screen, you might want to try a couple of different screen resolutions. One or more of them might "scale" better to give sharper results.

Good luck!
