I, like many others use NTL for their cable modem connection. Finally, NTL have come around to releasing the speed increases to (almost) everyone on broadband. You can see the details of the speed & pricing packages here. You can upgrade your broadband speed by registering online but as there are price changes, it might be better to contact NTL's customer services department to make sure everything is hunky dory.
Some might see it as a drawback that NTL will be introducing download limits to a maximum of 3GB daily with these higher speeds. On the other hand, a normal user (is there such a thing?) wouldn't get anywhere near this - but someone heavily into downloading moveis and music might...
Oh well, hats off to NTL for kicking the speed up a notch!
PS - I can now download a 1mb file in < 2 seconds.
