In Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0: Use the eyedropper tool to take a sample of the color you want to paint with. Create a new layer and on the new layer you can use the paintbrush tool to paint over names or dates. If you paint over something you didn't really want to paint over you can always erase it with the eraser tool if it's on a separate layer.

Hope that helps.

I have PSE Elements 6. It works much the same way as PSE 5. However, I find it easier, if it's just names to select with the magic wand and fill with the paint bucket tool all in the same layer, but I copy the layer first so it's not the background layer. I eventually make the background layer white or transparant.

Hope this helps a little. Kari is so much better than I am at designing.

I tried out CS3 earlier this year. I think it was similar. Experiment and see. You can always revert.
