Well, my DH's birthday is next week and I have no idea what to get him. Last night he mentioned a new laptop. His current laptop is about 5 years old and a big 17 inch screen. I don't think he is keen on the size.

I have thought about getting him a MacBook. Everyone keeps saying how easy and great they are. However, everything else we have is running on Windows. How easy would it be for him to use the MacBook with our current printer and router. Or, should I just get another laptop?

Any other gift suggestions?

I am not getting the iPad. At least not this version. He has a Touch, iPod, Blackberry. He is just so hard to buy for.

TIA!

He would have no problems getting a MacBook working with everything else. They are very compatible with most devices and if he has an iPod and Touch he would be just fine with it.

I would be concerned about any applications he currently runs on the pc -- if he needs them to run specifically on the windows side then you need to buy additional software for the mac. If he just runs office then the mac would be an awesome gift.

Is he a "PC Guy", because unless he has expressed interest in a Macbook believe it or not he may not actually want one. If he has talked about getting one then it would make a fine gift.

Darren makes a great point... has your husband expressed interest in getting a Mac previously? I'm a PC guy and would much rather have a PC than a Mac.

The router (and wireless if you have it) won't be an issue.
For the printer. Just go to the company's site and look up the printer in the "support/drivers" section. There it will list all the compatible operating systems and the software to download to get the printer working.

If you buy the laptop at the apple store you can take your pc laptop in, and they will move all of your files over for you. You can ask them about what software you would need to make sure you can do the same type of things with it as your DH's is used to.

Thanks all for the advice and help.

Since I wasn't sure if he would want to jump into a Mac or keep going with a PC, I decided to get him a Margarita Machine. ;)
