I am having a strange thing happen on my computer...

Yahoo is my home page (and my email) The page is all messed up! When I put in Ymail I get nothing! UGH!

So I decided to search Google. Absolutley nothing shows up.

So lets try Bing...again just a background but nor words!

What did I do?

I can get on here just fine as well as other sites I reg visit like the kids school sites.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Run a virus and spy ware scan -thats the first and most likely issue.

do you use spyware doctor? i love it for getting rid of ickies-but one of the updates installed an application called browser defender that just completely jacked up my abilbity to use google. something like that could be your issue as well although its kind of hard to tell sometimes.

Also defrag your hard drive and clear all cookies.

Also defrag your hard drive

Why would someone need to defrag the hard drive in order to view webpages? :confused3

It sounds like the OP has a cookie problem, a browser problem, corrupted internet temp files, her Internet browser settings have been changed or she has spyware or a virus.

What the heck do I pay Norton for??

UGH! I do not even understand what most of you are saying?!??! :confused3

I guess I am stuck til DH gets back in town tomorrow or DS 17 comes home!!

Thanks though!

Nancy, what browser do you have?

I have Windows Internet Explorer

I rebooted my computer and things seem to be normal.

I keep getting a message to do sun java something Is that a real program?

Thank you for your concern.

Thank you for your concern.

You posted as I was posting. Yes, Sun Java is a real thing and pretty necessary for the web. You probably need to reinstall the Java Runtime Environment.

This week Microsoft released the most patches ever for a patch Tuesday so it is not out of the question one might have broke a plug in.

I would recommend switching to Firefox if I were you. It is more secure and handles plugins better.

Yes, listen to FireDancer. After several posts like this, I downloaded various free programs he told me to install. A couple months later, I went to visit a website I visit daily. The site had been hacked and infected with some virus. Many PCs were infected that day. It wasn't until people were discussing it on the forum that they figured out how their PC got hit, or the level it took to get rid of the virus. :headache:

But, because FD had previously told me to install Firefox, Foxit PDF reader, to turn off my Javascript, and install a few other things, when I clicked on the website, an empty pdf file opened and NOTHING downloaded itself to my PC! I was one of the few who were protected. :woohoo: :dance3: (I ran scans just in case, but definitely nothing.) The people who had I.E., Adobe PDF, Norton, Panda, all got hit. Some of the better antivirus programs gave people warnings not to open the webpage.

okay Frank, I am going to go for it and give it a try. I am tired of running into so many problems!

I'll let you know how I do...wish me luck!!!

Thanks Frank!

I will work on getting used to Firefox.

I downloaded the security and Firefox and the Java also.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!
