Alan, So glad you enjoyed your dinner at the Kona Cafe. We LOVE it there. I always order the beef teriyaki like your wife. It seems that they keep changing their bread. A few years back it was a focaccia with an olive oil dipping sauce. Last May it was something different than your picture--although your bread looks divine. One place I'd recommend trying on your next trip would be Spoodles on the Boardwalk for breakfast. They have a dish there called the Italian which I want to call kind of a breakfast bowl with egg, sausage and so on that my DH and his best friend both thought was fantastic. I would say that Spoodles rivals Kona on food quality, taste and service. (They also let me order Mickey waffles with extra strawberries
Hey, glad to hear that you love Kona as well! That beef teriyaki is great, isn't it? That is interesting about the bread....I hope they don't change it anymore, because this bread was WONDERFUL!
We thought about going to Spoodles on this trip because I wanted to go over to the Boardwalk. We had some friends who were staying at the Boardwalk and they really enjoyed breakfast at Spoodles. That will be on our next trip itinerary!
My gosh! I was wondering the very same thing!!!
Wow! What a dessert! My kids would LOVE that (if it really is cotton candy)!!
Oh yeah....it's REAL cotton candy! How can you beat a huge ice cream in a cone surrounded by cotton candy? Pure genious sugar bliss!
Omg those wings at Kona look wonderful!!! I already told DH that we have to order those!!! I'm thinking I'm getting the teriyaki steak and I'll have DH get the Prime Rib so I can taste both of them!!
I know it sounds weird, but even the pictures of the wings doesn't do them justice. They were just wonderful. Sounds like you've got a solid plan on ordering at Kona!
Alan I can't believe your report is almost done. I love your writing (literature/language arts teacher here) and you have "the gift." I hope you begin a PTR (yes this stands for pre-trip report). Surely you will begin planning your next Disney vacation the moment you finish this trip report......we all do. We have Kona on our list this year, had it on the list last year but chickened out (pun intended). I have to try the prime rib, it looks divine.
Wow! Thank you VERY much for your kind words! I have always considered writing a novel. I write songs and I used to write for a national magazine for awhile. I've always enjoyed writing, and English was always my favorite school subject. Thanks for the great compliment!
You CHICKENED out!! Nice! Don't FOWL up on your next trip by not going!
Oh Alan, you got me dribbling+slobbering all over my keyboard again-with the look of your dish-the prime rib+oh boy them Kona Cones your children had looked really great-my girls would love them.
You mentioned going back to WDW in May-shame-as we go on April 1st+it would have been a pleasure to have met up briefly with you+your family for some fish+chips in the Rose&Crown

.x.
Hi, x! Glad I could get you all worked up with the Kona photos! Those were some of our best pictures because the food was just great!
My job gets really busy in March and April, so we will have to wait until May to go. Sorry we will miss being there when you and your family are there! I would've enjoyed having some fish and chips with one of my British buddies from the DISboards! I will definitely have to drink a Bass or Guiness at the Rose & Crown in your honor!
Thanks so much, again, for the AMAZING TR. All of us are so sad that it is over and looking forward to your next one!
I am so glad to hear this about Kona. My DS(12) spends a lot of time on the dis and he talked me into changing one of our dinner ressie's for Kona- I cannot wait. shhhh! Don't tell anyone but it was actually our LeCellier ressie that we switched. We love LeCellier and will go again on another trip, but that was the only one that we were all willing to give up. The cool thing is that we were able to give our ressies to another diser who could not get ressies to LeCellier for the past 2 trips.
Thank you very much for your compliments! It has been a pleasure putting this trip report together, mostly because of the positive feedback we've gotten from readers like you!
We loved Le Cellier, but I personally liked Kona a little better. It is noisy....like eating at an airport restaurant! But to me that was part of the appeal. The food alone speaks for itself. Tell DS12 he made a good move! MY DS11 MUCH preferred Kona to Le Cellier.
Oh, Alan, how wonderful it has been to spend my mornings with you and your charming family! I've really enjoyed following you every day and hate to see it coming to an end. You've been so warm, entertaining and informative. Definitely the best trip report I've read on these boards. I thank you and wish you and yours all the best.
Barb, you're going to make me sad! It has been so much fun reliving our trip and sharing with others on these boards. Thanks very much for making my day with your kind comments!
I couldn't have put it better myself, so I won't bother to try......

to you Alan.
I will miss you all
aww...you guys!

Thanks for the good vibes...and right back atcha!
I couldn't agree more. You have brightened my days when I've come home from visiting my dad at the hospital and made me dream of our trip to the CSR in two months. The best trip report I've ever read. I don't think I can even do one now...it would be like a kindergartener writing against a professor!
I am in awe of the kindness of the readers on this board. May God bless you for visiting with your dad, and I hope you have an incredible trip to CSR! You MUST do a trip report to repay me for mine!!! I'll be looking for it!!
wow does that food look good!!
can't believe your trip is almost over though!

What am I going to do with my free time now!?!
LOL!! I don't know what to do with my free time either!! Guess I'll get back to real life! Thanks for hanging with the Renfroes!
