Team Rebel Alliance Marches On...

Gretchen - Have the best time ever. I so need a Vegas trip. I love the vegas version of myself and I miss her terribly.

Andrea - 5 lbs is so great. Congrats!!!!! I only lost a pound this past week. But it's still a loss.

Jen - Congrats for signing up for the 1/2. I can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

AFM, I didn't wind up doing my long run yesterday. It was kinda gross here. Instead I walked a little over 2 miles as I had to run some errands. It's raining here today, so I'm hoping to get out tomorrow with my new sneakers. We'll see.

Happy Monday everyone!

Hello Guys! This will be SHORT!

At noon today we were listening to Disney music and decided to drive to WDW! Yep, that was at noon and it is 3:00 my time, we are hoping to be on the road within the hour. We are driving!

So, I will not be online until next week! Hope you all have a great week!

Hi Teammates.
Wow, there is a lot going on here. Everyone is doing so well. Sorry I haven't been on in a while but life has been very busy this March. I have been continuing to walk every day at least 4m and watching staying with the diet as well. You all have such wonderful ideas, I hope you don't mind my using them as well.
I will be leaving this evening for Las Vegas. It is going to be an all girls trip. My two best friends and I are all celebrating our birthdays by spending some quality girl-time. I am so looking forward to it. I only hope that I can continue to keep walking and sticking with healthy food choices.
Will see you all back here April 1. Until then, great job everyone and keep up the good work!

Hey, Gretchen! Glad you're back. Hope everything is okay with you. That's great that you are finding time to continue your walking every day. It's so easy to just let that become a low priority when other stuff gets busy. Of course we don't mind you using the ideas we talk about. That what we're all here for! And if you've found some that are working for you, please share with us!

Hi Rebels, I hope you had a great weekend!

All done with my half marathon training and the big day is this Saturday. I ended up doing 12.21 miles at 3:00:08 (14:45 average) this last Saturday. I took it easy and had a lot left in my tank when I finished. The last full mile I did in 13:37 and was so glad to see my speed coming back, woohoo. My IT band did give me trouble the first mile, but after that, I only felt it again on a steep down hill on mile ten. I did not feel it the rest of the way after that.

Looking forward to a good race this weekend and will do a race report on my adventure.

James, are you nervous about Saturday? You probably shouldn't be - I'd say you've trained enough to be more than ready! Glad your IT band cooperated for the most part. Can't wait to read your race report.

Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks for the congrats! And congrats to you, too! A pound is a pound, right? As for missing your long run, at least you got up and moved.

Hey Everyone! We've had the cooties in our house for the last few weeks and finally everyone is feeling "normal", lol. I just signed up for the Expedition Everest Challenge, is anyone else doing it? It looks like so much fun! I finally found a friend to team up with me. She just did her first 5K with me this past Saturday and has caught the running bug! :cheer2: I am also trying to decide on another 1/2 marathon for this year, leaning towards the Women's Running Magazine 1/2 in St. Pete this November, it's right after my 40th bday so it will be pretty meaningful for me! Would love to do the Women's Nike one in SF but I don't think I could manage all the costs it would include. Have a couple 5K's planned before the Everest Challenge and trying to keep my mileage up during the week! Hope everyone is enjoying their week and happy training!

Andrea – Thanks and I am a little more excited than nervous. I did a 10 mile race in December, which really helped my confidence and experience level. As a matter of fact, it gave me the racing bug. :)

I am feeling really good this week and I hope that means I could peak on race day. Either way, I am going to have a blast. The weather report keeps saying rain on race day but I am not letting that bother me. :)

I am doing the Expedition Everest Challenge with three friends. All of us mommys are going to Disney for the weekend by ourselves and we are sooooo looking forward to it!

Unfortunately another difficult thing about the Nike in SF is that it is a lottery unless you do it for a charity. I plan to start getting myself in the lottery starting next year.

I did the Women's Running Half last year. It was a very well run event. It is actually run by Track Shack, the people Disney partners with to put on Marathon Weekend. You will notice some similarities. The only complaint I had about the race is that the start-line was a little chaotic and some of the Augusta block was difficult to run on. I was told by a rep at the tent this year that they are going to have corrals next year which should fix the start line issues. They also are supposed to making the medal even better and last years was already pretty awesome. :D

Good morning,
The rain has finally stopped, 90 minutes after my rainy run :rotfl:. I have not trained a lot in March because of mu problem with my right leg, so I have decided not to do the half at the end of may. Instead I am training for a 10k at the beginning in June and for the next 10 weeks I will work to improve on my time. And I will train for the half in Montréal in September.
I am off for the next 3 days (this is my week-end) and today I am going to the bike shop so they can repair my bike. For the summer, I have decided to run 3 days and bike 2 days. We will see how it goes.
Have a nice day. I am going back to eat my delicious maple butter (it is the season of maple product).

Hi Rebels, I hope your week is going well so far!

Wow, March has come and gone already, I guess time does fly when I am having fun. I did my last walk for this month of 4 miles yesterday, with a total of this month of 70 miles. I am still amazed at how quickly the miles get racked up in the last month of training for a half marathon. I will probably be shocked at the mileage I incur when I finish my training for the marathon in October.

Anyway, it is starting to act like spring here, which is awesome! :)

Diane – Good luck in advance with your races this year. I have been thinking about getting back on the bike myself. Your plan of 3 days of running and 2 days of biking sounds like a good one. I just might have to look into that.

Jen – Have a fun and safe trip.

Glad the cooties have left the building! No fun being sick. I wish I could do the EEC, but I just went to Florida for the Princess, and I'm going back for the Wine & Dine, so I can't swing another trip this year. My boss is about to kill me as it is! But it does sound like fun.

That's great that you found a running buddy that caught the bug. You'll always have someone to run with and do races with now. (And someone to share the hotel costs!)

How does a lottery entry work?

With my first race having had corrals, I can't imagine a race not having them. Sounds like chaos.

Sounds like a smart choice with putting off the half. Better to not overdo it and injure your leg even worse. I like that idea of mixing the bike with the run. I think I might give that a try, too. Of course, I've got to pull my bike out of the garage, dust it off and pump up the tires, but then I'm on it!:lmao:

I have started the new thread for us, it is here. (If anyone can come up with a better name for the thread, let's hear it!)

Thanks Katie! Yea, I saw the whole lottery thing and then thought about doing it with Team in Training but it was way too much $$$$$. I'll just stick to the closer one. Thanks for the info.

I'M BACK! Let's see if I can get caught up a bit...

Jen, that is awesome! :cool1: Have an amazing time!!

We had a great time! It was a crazy trip that was planned, packed for and out the door all within a 4 hour time frame. If anyone wants to read the TR I am doing, feel free to join in. Here is the link:

This sounds like so much fun - first the challenge and then the "mommy time"! Bet you are excited!

Diane - Sounds like you have a great plan in place! I am going to start adding biking to my routine as soon as it gets back from the repair shop! :thumbsup2 Sorry you can't run the 1/2 that you were planning on but I think you are smart to take it easy and listen to your body.

Jen – Have a fun and safe trip.

James - It was a great trip! We had so much fun and I can't believe that I actually just picked up and went to Disney without any plans at all. I think that is what made it so fun...we had no plans so we had no worries!

AFM - I did run 3 miles yesterday (after driving 25 hours straight from FL). It was a really hard run because I was so tired but after a week of no running, I had to do it. Took today off but will run again tomorrow. We walked tons at WDW but did not run. I was really conscience of my diet and made really good food choices - managed to lose 2 pounds!

I promise to write more soon but it is time for bed!
Jen
