Team Rebel Alliance Introduction

Kim! Is this where you're hanging out these days?!

I should have known you'd be consorting with the Rebels!

My ds picked out my Valentine's Day card from DH. It's a sound card which plays their love theme while Leia and Han kiss. My ds said, "This is back when they were young and it wasn't gross. Now they're old and no one would want to see them kiss." Once I stopped laughing, I thought about crying...

By the by, I love, love, love The Rebel Alliance icons! You guys totally rock!

Maria

Hi Maria how are you !!!!!!!!!

Yup looking forward to getting to know my new teammates!!!!!

Hey guys....
Spent Tues. afternoon battling a stomach bug! Thank goodness it was a 12 hour type thing and I felt much better by Wed. morning.
Kim....are you and I the only ones around today?
Suzann...hope you're feeling better.
Maria...funny story about DS and :lovestruc card. Kids say the funniest things! You have such a happy home over on Ohana....otherwise I know you'd wanna come to the dark side!
Is everybody working out? I keep a log of when I work out, so I can post anytime.....although it would be easier for me to post weekly or monthly rather than daily, but majority rules.
Have a great day all!

Morning everyone... I'm on the west coast, so I'm sure I'm not up as early as you all are :goodvibes

I'm still feeling down and out today, but I made it to work (silly careers)

I have edited the spreadsheet that I received and I'm ready to share it out there... if everyone could PM me their email addresses, that would be great! (Hopefully this works)

Oh, and a small, maybe silly, question... I bowl on a league and practice some during the week... do you guys think that counts as minutes?

Suzann...I would say that bowling definitely counts. I'll PM you and then you'll let us know what we need to do next, right? Did we look into the google docs thingy that Mike wrote about? You can tell I'm a computer whiz:confused3 .

Hi all. I'm around. :) Today was such a nice day that I did a double. I did a gym workout and then hit the road this afternoon. It was too nice to miss it. Hope everyone is doing well.

Suzann I sent you my email address

Scott, 2 a days eh? Good for you. We got hit with a nasty snow storm yesterday and today so back on the dreadmill for me:sad2:

Ok it looks like you have to sign up for google to actually contribute to the spreadsheet... but if you do, that would work wonderfully! (And I can't say enough good things about google... really.. I don't work for them, but wow, I love the ease of their email, documents and calendar!)

Scott... great to see you! 2 a days? ouch!

:stitch2: Monday Mixers w/ Team 'Ohana :stitch2:

I thought I'd let the Rebels know that Team 'Ohana is inviting their WISH family to come visit its thread on Mondays. We thought this would be a good way for people on the teams/threads to get to know other WISHers better. Plus, 'Ohana like to think we know how to throw a party and we always like new guests! The drinks are free, if virtual, and no one will tell you when you've had enough. :upsidedow

I'll post a reminder on Monday, with a loose question/discussion topic to get the conversations going. There's no need to stick to the topic, of course, as it's really your sparking, non-alcoholic but still intoxicating presence that is requested. So, if you have a little time for socializing with your cousins, please stop by 'Ohana on Monday! :goodvibes

Okay, everybody....
I went to the wonderful google chart by Suzann and inputed some of me info, but I wanted to double check.....
We count mileage for running and walking....does biking mileage count
Our time for running/walking counts as well as time for any other activity (like an exercise class, swimming, etc)?
For example....
On Monday the 9th I ran 3 miles in 31:15
in the evening I went to fitness class for sixty minutes
So....on the 9th, I have 3 miles and 91:15 min.
Is that right?

Tracey, I'm not sure how we track... and what counts, doesn't count.. maybe we could intrude on another team and ask them? ;)

Tracey,
I believe that that is exactly right. Total miles and total minutes. I could be wrong.

I hit the gym early today for some TM time and some weight time. I did 4.5 miles and another 45 minutes of weight training.

Are we tracking this stuff yet? I have a chart of all of it so I am not missing but should we be posting yet?

Yes the whole idea is time off the butt. So we count hours. That way even if you can't take off for a run/walk/bike ect... at least you can do some stretching, do yoga or pilaties with a tape or a class. Yard work, snow shoveling, anything that gets you going. Light housework like dusting isn't an exercise but absolutely it's better than sitting with the bag of chips watching the tube.

*Knock Knock* Can I come in?

Hi!:flower3: I'm Allyson, former member of the now defunct Herc's Heroes and new member of this team! Glad to be here! I've missed having a place to track my stuff!

As Dave mentioned all last year we tracked miles/minutes for our activities: running, pilates, biking, swimming, etc. I'll have to go through the thread, I see you mention something about a Google sheet? Is that where we are posting? Do we enter our own stuff in weekly?

A little about me: I live in MA, happily married to Rick (known as Grumpy in my trip reports) and mom to 3 kids,dd11, dd9 and ds6. I am 39 and started running in February 2008. My DH and I were basically couch potatoes, challenged by our best friends to run the Disney Half with them this past January. So we started with the Couch to 5K program, did some local races and in the fall I began using the Marathoning for Mortals Half Walk/Run plan. Towards the end I changed it up a bit and did more of a run till I needed a short break, walk, run again type thing. It worked for me.

January of this year we ran and completed the Half! It was the most incredible experience, especially for someone like me who had always been so non athletic. I felt like I could do anything as I crossed that finish line.

Since then I've only run twice and am finding it hard to be motivated again. I don't have a big race like the Disney one planned again and its not in the cards for me in 2010. I would love to run it again sometime though and hope to be able to do that. I need to find something local though to have as a motivator. It is so easy to just not do it when there isn't that goal circled on the calendar.

I loved the WISH motto and that got me through many a training run. It felt great to wear the shirt during the race and feel like you were part of a team of just super encouraging, wonderful people!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Allyson

Hi Allyson!!! First off, welcome!!! :welcome:
Congrats on running the half last month!! What an accomplishment!!! Its definitely hard for me to keep motivated running since its my least enjoyable! But maybe you could sign up for some smaller races near you... or even a slightly larger one (maybe another half near the end of the season) that you could go for that had a medal (runners bling always does it for me!)
I found that I liked triathlons! So maybe that's something you want to look into too :goodvibes

As for the google document, send me your email in a PM and I'll link you to you :thumbsup2

Yesterday I did 25 minutes on the stairmaster with a 10 pound weight vest and today I did 2 hours at the climbing gym! (My first time and it was a blast! Such an upper body workout!)
Oh, and I painted my spare bathroom yesterday... that counts! LOL

Mike gave me his spreadsheet and we're going to use google docs so we all can keep track of it in one place... send me your email via PM :goodvibes

Hi Allyson....:welcome: Oh, I felt exactly like you did crossing the finish line in Jan. What an amazing feeling of accomplishment. Congrats! We're glad you're on our team. Check out your local running sites and find something to register for....once you get that on your calendar, the motivation seems to return.
Thanks, Dave!:lovestruc You're the best! You've never seen me dust...I may be able to count it as aerobic activity;) . Did I read somewhere that races count as 2x distance? or am I making that up?
Thanks again, Suzann for setting up our spreadsheet.
WTG on that workout, Scott.
I have to go back to the spreadsheet and update my totals. We still didn't pick a date to report, right? Or, do we just make sure that we're caught up by the end of the month? I'll have to admit that on the days that I felt like slacking...it crosses my mind as to how I'd feel to have a "0" on my chart. That's enough to get me moving. I'm up at the crack of dawn because my DS is running a 1/2 today. I'll be back to let you know how he does, but my fingers may be frozen because it's currently 22 degrees!:scared1:

Hi Tracey:hug:

Yes races count double for miles and time. We want everyone to experience the thrill and excitement of racing no matter where in the pack you finish.
