I took 650 photos at a swim meet yesterday. I want to share them with the swim team families. I deleted the yucky ones and I have noted which photos go with which kid (kind of hard to tell at times once they have caps on their heads and faces in the water!) Emailing them individually would take too long. How can I get them to the families for viewing?

I do the same sort of thing with Football, Rugby and gymnastics here in the UK.

I use fotopic to put them in my online gallery, i set a password for each event and give these to parents on the day,i also issue coaches with them.

Fotopic does cost, but i found it the cheapest way of protecting a large amount of photo's online.
Any other info you need, drop me an email through my website

I vounteer to shoot our church's theater group. I give the photos away, if they want to download them, or they can buy prints from my site at www.smugmug.com I have a pro account and I can adjust prices for prints so I make a little money. my profit on a 4x6 print is about 18 cents. it is an all volunteer show so I do not boost the prices outragously. jsut a little to offset the expenses.

even with regular smugmug accounts you can disable "right click and save", or allow it. you can limit the size file they can download. and tons of other great options.

I upload large size files so people can get really good prints, even up to poster size.

I recently found out that I can charge for downloads! How cool is that! I am not sure if that is a pro feature or if regular accounts can do that as well.

they have a free trial, and if you like it you can use this code for $5 off EDfLfDAAygNVM and I get a little as well. hehehehehee

I do the same for my son's baseball teams and events with family and friends.

SmugMug is awesome, and people can buy prints and photobooks, etc, directly from the site. Your photos are protected as well. :thumbsup2

Susan,

I am one of 2 team photographers for our summer swim team. We set up a free team account on shutterfly. We password protected it as some parents were concerned about photos out on the web. It actually sets up a website for your photos and can include a calendar, notes etc. Way more than we needed.

We emailed the team the link and the password. People could choose to print the pics at your local Target store. It worked great and the parents loved it. Good luck!

I also have a gallery on my smugmug of DD's softball team. I send the team the link so they can buy if they want. I used to make discs and hand them out at the end of the season. Back in older DD's soccer and swimming years, when using film I'd just give parents the photos. Swimming is tough because its often hard to tell who is who.

This sounds like a better option for me. I don't tink my photos are quite good enough for smugmug!

My2girls66 -- yes, it is hard to tell who is who, but since I was the one to write out the meet for the coach, I just had to keep the photos in order and look at the meet sheets:thumbsup2

I do the exact same thing for our swim team. It's a super easy way to share and you can often score free prints just for setting it up. Parents love it!

The last 2 years I've been the official volunteer photograher for DS's baseball team. I set up a gallery on smugmug that is password protected and unlisted. The only way to find it is for me to send out the link and once you find it you need a password to view it. You can do this with the Standard Smugmug account. With the Power Account, you can add right click protection so that no one can download the images if you choose (along with other features). With the Pro account you can also add watermarks and set your own prices for people to buy directly from your site so you can make some additional money to cover the cost of the smugmug membership if that is what you choose. You'll have to have a good idea of how many parents/family members are going to buy prints. If you think only a small handfull will buy, it might not be worth getting the Pro account.
